russ h
hi all im new to this forum just wanted to ask a Question. I have a golf gt tsi 170 on a 56 reg and its just started to play up its fine when cold but when it warms up its like the turbo cuts out, the car runs as it should until it hits just over 3000 revs and then it goes on 1/4 boost which is when the turbo should kick in and take over. I just wanted to see if anyone had experianced anything like this....any advice would be appreciated thanks
Dr_Watson
I have same car and same problem. Usually experience it say once a week. Usually 3rd or 4th gear, there is a slight hesitation as the turbo starts, the boost gauge goes to full but there is no turbo at all, quite dangerous when your overtaking!!! Had to lift off and put foot down again and got full boost. I hate the car, engine is so rough, turbo lag is unreal! I think they forgot to put a supercharger in mine as you have zero acceleration in 1st, 2nd or 3rd unless you have the pedal about 3/4 of the way to the floor, then you get full boost without warning which isn't much fun in traffic, you lift off to try and get a steady acceleration and the boost cuts off so quickly you don't get anywhere, it jumps all the way down the road....I should have listened to Clarkson! I've paid my car off, waiting till next spring then get shot of the cr*p. I have it in for a service. Its just over 2 years old but I don't tell them to check or fix anything as you only get a 2 year warranty in Switzerland...rules are rules, one day over the warranty and you pay for the lot. Tarmac_Terrorist
I had the 140TSI and though it was a very good car. Sold it to my dad and it has now done 25k miles. I can't help but think that you guys have a fault as mine did none of that stuff!
Dr_Watson
I don't think so, I think there is a big sacrafice in smoothness to get the 170psi out a 1.4! My Dad has a 125ps Leon TSi and it's dead smooth, much nicer to drive and not much slower at all. I have also had the Golf 140psi version like you mentioned and it was very smooth, you didn't realise it was a 1.4 with a Turbo. Like I said, I live with it until I get something else next year.
