Anybody use these bods?

Just find it curious that some people on here get improved economy (after a remap or chip), but this poor sap didn't with a box.

Fuel Economy Warning - Autocar

However, we don't really know what is driving style and route are, so it is all subjective.

For instance, my 30K mile annual jaunt gets me 56 mpg from an older design 1.9 PD!

But his 1.6 has just as heavy a car to haul about??

I'm sorry, but you just don't re-map a car to get better economy.

I've had many different cars, with either tuning boxes or re-maps, I've tried most of them, and I don't care what any 'tuner' tells you, your economy will not improve.

I always find an approximate loss of about 2mpg.

Most bods on here get improved economy - albeit as a by product as that was not what they are/were after, but still a bonus!

It's less likely in a petrol car but certainly in diesels you can tune them to use less fuel. That's why there's such a massive market for tuning trucks and agricultural machinery.

But most people who have their car remapped have it done for th extra power, which they'll generally use, so it's difficult to gauge.
