s4dreamer
I'm pretty sure that for Ford cars, RS was, as Paul suggest, Rallye Sport. Not sure about Audi though.

sidicks
My wife decided that having witnessed the pace of my S3, the Audi 'S' was for speedy, hence the 'RS' must be really speedy. sidicks

SUPRA
RS stands for RENN-SPORT. It is very very very strange to have a RS car with auto box only.
sidicks
Supra - Best ask Dave, but it seems the gearbox on the RS-6 is the best of both worlds - automatic for around town (and with so much torque you wouldn't need to change gear in a manual anyway), plus the steering wheel paddles to change gear as and when you want to. I think the automatic has got sport mode as well. I never thought I'd go for an auto-box but if this comes out on the next RS4 (which it probably will) this seems very tempting. sidicks
sidicks
Dave Is the gearbox in your motor like the one in the new TT, where there are 2 clutches and the 'next' gear is automatically selected, or is yours a more 'traditional auto ??' If yours is as good as you say (and not the same as the TT) I can't see why you'd want the twin clutch version. sidicks
Dave
Yes... mine is a traditional auto... the gearbox software is very quick.. but I'm waiting to see what the TT version is like.. I will try and get a test drive... It's supposed to be more like a racing gearbox but I see that clarkson was taking the piss last sunday Will have to wait and see Dave
RS4_Barry
As far as I was awair the auto-box in the RS6 was a modifed version of the unit that will be mated to VAGS V10TDI which will be in the Tourag and the new A8 as this was the only auto box that could handle the torque! Dave
Yes Barry.. that is correct... But now that Audi have access to Lambo's parts bin they may have something hidden in there Dave
Mollox
"Renn Sport" = 'Race Sport' This is what RS stands for in Porsche-speak anyway, not 100% sure its the same for Audi although its likely.
