Its the Nikon 10-24mm f3.5-f4.5 lens. So far very impressed.

I have also put my name down for the new 70-200mm f2.8 lens, but it's £2000

£2k!!!! - ouch, and i thought Sony wanting £1400 for their version was a lot:eek:

Would love an F2.8 long zoom, but reckon the Sigma/Tamron versions at half the price must be worth a shout. Reckon they'll be more than be half as good;)

With a wide angle shot its good to have something interesting in the foreground, if that boat was further back leading your eye into the picture it would be better for me.

I don't think the river needs to be brighter, the dirty nature it offers is probably best disguised if anything. Nice shot and they can create some cracking shots.

On the lenses, tell me about it, I'm going for a 70-200 f/4 L IS, not anything like as expensive but I don't want the extra weight of the glass for what I'm shooting. There is a saying that its better to have the lens with you than left at home because its to heavy to carry, when you get a few that can often be the case. +++

Here is one of my wide angle shots from my holiday earlier in the year.

Problem is nikon don't make a fixed aperture lens other than the 70-200 f2.8. So I either get the current model, or wait and get the newest greatest lens at a £600 premium which will of course improve my photos no end :roflmao:

I've got the Sony 70-200F2.8G it a beautiful lens, It took a while to get used to swinging 1.5kg of lens around but now I'm used to it, small lens don't feel right now :)

The reason I brought the sony lens is, after checking how much the minolta 80-200F2.8 fetches on ebay (about £800-950 for a 1990 one!) I decided your never going to loose too much money if you keep care of it.

Image from VW Action with the 70-200G Lens, Shame the wall is in the way :-(

Great shot DHA. What was the Nikon shop? Always up for therapeutic gadget retail opportunities, which is of course entirely respectable and manly and has nothing whatsoever in common with, say, girls buying shoes, as I'm always explaining to the wife :D

I have a Nikon 70-200 f.2.8 (current model, not the version 2) which I got used and pristine, close to a grand (£1150 I think) from Mifsuds via Amateur Photographer advert/online - though my usual used lens source is Grays of Westminster. It's beautiful and feels gorgeous to use, but I use my 17-55 f/2.8 much more. The new 70-200 looks fantastic but if you're hankering, I'd seriously consider the used market for the older one, which is a fabulous piece of glass +++

I think you're right about values holding.

It was Grays that I used. Having had more and more thought about it I am heading towards a used example of the current 70-200mm. Only issue is that used prices are not much less than a new example, for the sake of £50 I would probably rather get a brand new example.

What are mifsuds like?

 that looks great but how do you get rid of the camera rig 'arm' ?? +++

Spend some time in photoshop, Because the arm is in the blurred section of the photo you can notice where I've removed it.

There was also a shadow on the floor I removed and you can still see a slight reflection of the arm in the rear lower quater pannel:roflmao:

What you want is some device that holds the camera in relation to the car and then roll the camera and car as one unit, Because the camera and car move as one unit the car stays sharp and background goes blurred

What you really want is no movent in the rig, Running thicker wall tubing helps untill you start extending the length then the weight of thick walls becomes a problem.

Try this link Corrado G60 Rig shot in underground carpark video on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

On the corrado the rig is made out of 3mmx25.4mm steel tubing but only extends 1.2m out from the car

The one on the pickup extends 3.5 meters out from the side

If the boom is solid enough it will move as part of the car (you need pretty thick tubes) so the car will be in focus and the background blurred.

Yep I understood all that i.e. it's just like a panning shot etc hence the question about movement. I just expected vibration and movement of the boom relative to the car to be more of an issue. +++

Nice and arty AMG shot Riz. In the first one what lens did you use? I suspect you had a wide aperture as the depth of field is pretty shallow and the watchface isn't totally in focus. My 50mm f1.8 lens is very hard to get exactly focussed when close up the dof is very narrow when you are in tight taking a photo.

Hi guys, is it possible for you to give my new site the once over?

Knocked it together so I can upload my pictures to show people etc, already had people wanting me to do weddings etc

I`m still thinking about what URL to buy etc and I`m considering doing some work with models/events etc.

Your thoughts most welcome.

Welcome to.... still looking for a site URL

Riz,

Site looks pretty good (to my untrained eye) I like black backgrounds in the main so that works well. It loads pretty quickly. My one thing I did notice is the song on the main page. I really don't like that on a website, unless I ask for the song. In an office it can cause embarrassment and at home if you are listening to iTunes whilst on the internet it can interrupt things.

On the url front I would simply buy rizphotograpy.co.uk or something similar, its simple and fairly easy to remember.
