PetrolDave
Hi, has anyone had a problem with the system when setting the route destination for Europe ? Been to France several times with my RNS-E using 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2009_1 map DVDs with no problems at all. I always set my first destination in France at home with an intermediate stopover at the Tunnel, and mine's never locked up.
cognac
Tried setting the destination with a stopover at the Tunnel but still the whole system locks up for a couple of minutes once France is selected. Is there a way to reset the Sat nav ( i do not have a manual for the sat nav RNS-E ) Thanks for your help

cognac
Thanks for the advice on how to reset the sat nav PetrolDave. I've reset the system after once again trying to programme in France, it will accept France but but still locks up on the town/zip selection. PetrolDave yes I am interested in the spare RNS-E manual you have. But as I'm thick I've no idea how to PM you ?

Click on where it says PetrolDave to the left this post, and then click on the section of the pull down that appears which says "Send a private message to PetrolDave". cognac
I do not get the dropdown Send a private message when I click on PetrolDave, could be that I'm new to tyresmoke and that option is not open to me yet!
Cockney Boy
The disk your using, i take it that its not a copy DVD? You may want to try another DVD, as you could have some corruption on the one you have got, as it doesn't sound like you have a faulty laser. cognac
To the best of my knowledge it's a genuine Audi 2008 disk, as I dont know of anyone who owns a Audi with sat nav plus RNS-E I think I'll just live with it until next year and then get the 2010 addition disk ! Thanks for all your help
Cockney Boy
Even genuine disks can have problems, a cheaper alternative (for testing purposes only) is to get one off a guy called Haaggie (audiforum.us) It may save you an awful lot of frustration and wish you have done this int he first place. To the best of my knowledge it's a genuine Audi 2008 disk, as I dont know of anyone who owns a Audi with sat nav plus RNS-E I think I'll just live with it until next year and then get the 2010 addition disk !Thanks for all your help
PetrolDave
To the best of my knowledge it's a genuine Audi 2008 disk If it's a genuine Audi DVD then it will be silver and have an Audi logo printed on it. You could have a copy DVD, a faulty DVD, a dirty laser lens or a failing laser. First thing to check is whether it's a copy - the under surface will likely be blue if it is. Second thing is to try borrowing a genuine Audi DVD from someone. Third thing is to try using a lens cleaning CD. If all those fail then your best bet is to replace the DVD drive - and I agree that Haaggie (or rabbit) on Audi Forum is the best source. I think I'll just live with it until next year and then get the 2010 addition disk ! Not sure what you mean by "2010 addition disk"? There is a new 2010 map DVD just starting to appear, and despite having newer maps it still only has the same firmware (version 0650).

PetrolDave
PetrolDave yes I am interested in the spare RNS-E manual you have. Look at the date of my post... it was 14 MONTHS ago, so unsurprisingly the spare manual went over a year ago.
