gizze
If you had one odd tyre they have ballsed up, it is actually dangerous. I would see which one is odd, get them to replace that for free and offer to pay for the others. My car had 3mm on it when I went to collect it and I got them to put a new set on, cost them nearly £800 as they were Michelin Pilot Sport 2's, but they did it. S4_marv
Just thought I'd update you all on what's happened on this; After speaking to Audi UK to confirm their official line on the exact tyre specs required for the S4 (this took several attempts before I got a full spec) I contacted the dealership involved, stating that the car was sold to me with mismatched, inadequately specced tyres. (Thanks VERY much to Micalee for the correct words to use regarding the Sale of Goods Act). The dealership took a few days to respond, but ultimately agreed to stump up the cost of 4 new tyres! The cheque arrived in the post today, so I'm very chuffed with this, and I think pretty lucky that I got as much as I did. But it goes to show, it's always worth taking the time to write an email/letter. For reference, the tyres Audi UK specify are 235/40/R18/95Y Extra load (XL). Sponge
Nice one! I was reading the thread, wondering which way it was going to go. Well done to you and to the dealer.
S4_marv
Thanks guys. While I wasn't happy that the dealers (Southampton Audi) had *appeared to* incorrectly measure the treads for the pre-delivery check, and that they weren't prepared to drive the car back to me with 2mm of tread, I have to praise them for having dealt so well with my subsequent complaint about the tyres. The salesman himself did a lot of the "chasing" of his seniors for me, and in the end sorted out the cheque himself. So far I've been very impressed with both Yeovil and Southampton dealerships for customer service. Yeovil in particular. They were very happy to spend 5 minutes to clear a fault for me prior to a long journey, and they even took the time to give me a printout of the fault code etc in case it ever happened again. However when I was up in Newcastle and I asked for a fault to be cleared, both Newcastle and Tyneside Audi would not do this without a "full diagnostic test" which they told me would take around an hour and a half! PetrolDave
I wasn't too surprised when you mentioned Southampton Audi - I live in Southampton so they would be the obvious choice, but I've not been impressed at all with their sales or service people (but their parts guys are ace). So I go to Camberley Audi or a local inde.
Mook
Only bought parts from So'ton Audi (which is about as close to So'ton as I am!), and agreed they're good. Only other experiences are with Poole Audi (great) and Stratford Audi (Listers) who were crap.
