Gear display lights up PRNDS when I go to shift.

Here is what happens. I clear the codes and when I push the button on the shifter all the gear display lights light up. When I look it up it says look at the steering wheel controls (which the jetta has none) and under steering it says 00194 Ignition Key Removal Lock: Implausible Signal. What is that telling me? Did I need to do anything else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I tested the MVB and saw that when I shifted into gear that it showed correctly on VagCom. It is still throwing an error that lights up all the Gear Indicator lights.

When I first start my car in the morning everything looks normal. It throws the code whenever I touch the button on the gear selector to switch it into gear.

I'm actually starting to think it is the gear selector lever (althought I see the gear display tell me the right gear in Vag). I was just reading through the Bentley Manual and it gives me a way of testing the Selector Mechanism. One this to test is with the Brake Pedal depressed:
