Nway will pm u.Its just that I hope its not gonna cost a fortune as I have a dud fuel gauge as well, which am not too happy about since the car is barely 4 years old.Besides that its been robust and brilliant.thanx again
IanHo
One suggestion don't know if the MMI controls are a single unit? If you can get it out, try sticking it in an electric oven on a low heat 50-60 degrees for about 40-60 minutes. I know it sounds a bit mad but bear with me. I spilt water on my laptop and no amount of drying with a hairdryer etc. would bring it back to life. A quick bake in the oven sorted it! Coffee maybe a different matter as I guess it may leave a residue behind, was it cappuccino or latte?!!

With sugar:eek:.....I`d have thought you`ll be left with crystallized sugar in some of the circuits:(....As others have said it`s one of those design errors that no one thinks off until the inevitable happens. Cockney Boy
I changed Wickedveyron's MMi panel today. I opened up the old unit to find a stickey coffee marks all over the circuit board. Once the panel was changed, it worked perfectly, only took 30 minutes to do. It did cost him a few pounds, but a valuble lesson in trying to balance your coffee cup next to the gear stick.
wickedveyron
yeah, all done now, thanx to cockney boy.I waited two weeks, but no response, but I have learnt my lesson though;no drinks whatsoever in the front seats.I can't complain too much, just had to reprioritize my plans.I have kept the old one, will work on a solvent solution one day, hopefully,u just don't say impossible.I just have to find an easier way of testing the circuit board outside of the mmi system. So I still need your brains.Together we may crack this.COME ON!!! nothing could have burnt,or melted coz it lights up (erratically though) which is a sign of life. thanx again cockney boy. I'm guessing its just causing some resistance/shorts across the board, there are solutions out there for cleaning this sort of thing, I'm a electrician and did a job a long time ago when a DJ console got beer spilt all over it and i remember soaking the circuit board in a solution which disovled the suger etc. Will see if i can find what it was called and get back toi you. Mack04
How about trying something like this? RS | Workshop Consumables | Cleaning Equipment and Contact Treatment | Precision (EEM) Cleaning Fluids | PCB Process Cleaners
wickedveyron
How about trying something like this?RS | Workshop Consumables | Cleaning Equipment and Contact Treatment | Precision (EEM) Cleaning Fluids | PCB Process Cleaners that seems like a right product to try,but dont want additional expense without figuring out how to test the circuit board, out of the mmi panel if u know what I mean. The problem is I can't open and remove all the centre console. What do you suggest about 'in vitro' testing?? if there is an easier way, will definitely try it.thanx
