There's one at my local dealer. The front end is square and plasticky. Yuk! I'll stick with my Sportline.

That'll be because it's a base model!!! The sportline look great, however I think once this new look is pimped, it will look even better. Look at the caravelle on the website, front end looks great, lowered with the front lip, and chrome will just look fantastic. The new 180 twin turbo engine should br good for 250bhp!

Must agree ! everything inside is exactly the same apart from the Dials, the front end now looks like its been borrowed from a golf mk6, will be interested to see what the sportline effort will be, ah forgot the major price hike just for those few extras, not for me sorry ! same as Tony will be stickin to me T32 till they get a decent deal going.

I'll wait for the T6. That should be along in a couple of years. If you remember, the T4 facelift was only made a year or two before the T5 came along. The T4 facelift was only made in the 88hp 2.5 TDi, reckon they had a glut of them, so changed the front end and the steering wheel and banged them on the forecourts.

Does make me chuckle when a new model comes out, I am the same, defend the old one through and through, and I have owned in excess of 50 T5's, in various guises, from 1.9 up to Sportlines, and I know just how good they are.

However if you cannot see the bonuses of the new one, albeit they haven't shown the Sportline yet, but they have a new dash, different front end and mirrors, more extras as standard, Euro 5 diesel engine(better on fuel, emissions and £125 a year to tax) and more powerful. Oh and quieter, yes.

The T5 is the best van around by a long mile, and in the last few months, since VW stopped building them, their prices have gone up, by up to £2000 on the SH market, especially the 5 cylinder models, and their prices will hold up nicely for a long time as VW have been very clever in their launch of the T5.5, very much like Ford were with the 'new' transit back in 2006.

I know in 6 months time all the talk will be about this 'new' (facelift) model, as the new daddy. And the price rise of approx £1500-1800 per unit, all the van manufacturers have done this over the last year.

Will be interesting to see the T6 when its released, but it'll be more than 2 years, VW have put a lot of time and money into this facelift transporter, I think they'll get at least 3-4 years out of it.

I'm looking forward to driving one as the torque spread is even greater than the 2.5 5 pot.

As always, just my tuppence

PS And dont worry about your Sportlines being devalued, they have, and always will be in a price bubble of their own!

The first of my vans turned up on monday. What an improvment over an already excellent van!

It is a SWB 140. Comparing it to a 130, it is quieter, quicker, more torque and feels a lot more refined. The vans just feels lighter due to the urgency of the engine, and it pulls effortlessly from 1000 rpm, not waiting for the turbo to spool up, and its very easy to pull away in 2nd, which we all know was a bit of a bitch in the T5's.

My Kombi and Shuttle turn up next week, so in the case of the Kombi, let the modding begin!
