Hi all,

I tried to jumpstart my A8 D2 by going thorugh the process as per the manual. However, I seemed to get a lot of sparking when attaching the final lead to the battery terminal. I didn't leave them on fo rmore than few seconds and gave up, worried about any damage that might occur. Am I doing something wrong or is the sparking normal? Another help would be any other areas that I can attach the leads to, under the bonnet perhaps? It's really annoying driving my wife's Scenic in the snow and ice as she has my XC90!

Thanks for your help,

Jon

Not sure how the manual describes it but anything to do with batteries the normal rule is attach the live lead first, then the negative. Then remove the negative lead before the positive. Sparking should be minimal but i have found that using jump leads the do tend to spark a bit.

Jon,

Should be OK.. Getting a bit of sparking is normal when you connect them up.

D2s are OK with battery to battery jumping, just double check you're connecting the correct terminals up as already mentioned and you should be good to go.

Quattro is the way to go in this weather!

Success! After what Maxyboy said (thanks) I checked the terminals and the red and the black were the 'wrong' way round. No problems starting it up and it runs as sweetly as a chocolate selection box at Christmas. Should be able to drive to work in quattro glory tomorrow am.

Thanks for all the replies,

Jon
