garcon magnifique
I'm told 2010 allocation for the Golf R has been presold, so either we're all wrong about pricing or there are more than enough Golf enthusiasts out there willing to pay it. In fact the more I've heard about the MkVI Golf generally the more I'm getting the impression it's a significant improvement to the MkV and has a quality feel to it that few other VAG and competitors' cars (up to and including A4 and 3 series) can match. If you actually think of the MkVI Golf as a 3 series competitor rather than a hatch the pricing begins to make more sense.

JonC
I'll let you know, mine is arriving anytime soon, currently awaiting a ship to bring it over! Nice My wife's keen on the MKVI GTi, but I'm trying to talk her into the new R. Still trying to find a rental company that hires the new R... Matt - really interested to hear what you think when your R does arrive. Still not seen one on the roads as yet, just at the Dealership! TP. Cuprabob
Had a look at the Rocco R on Saturday and thought it was really nice although silver did nothing for it IMO
JonC
Sorry, but in silver that car must be dull as dish water. Haven't (yet) seen a R20 round these parts either. Anyone seen one on the road south of the border?

Anyone seen one on the road south of the border? It wasn't as bad as that. Could have been worse, could have been grey. I'm told the Golf R will be in this week and will be Rising Blue
Matt R
Mine is now with me at home, Only done about 50 miles so far. Mine has the 19's and the ride is pretty hard without ACC to soften things up, handling feels good, brakes are also very good. Performance wise is not really and animal it is very smooth and can be driven everyday by anyone including the mrs. Overall a very smooth easy driving quickish car, still not sure of the price tag though! Probably buy an S3 instead! But then everything seems slow compared to my other toy I have recently purchased! Cuprabob
Managed to have a look over a Golf R last weekend and it did leave me very underwhelmed. Have to say if I fancied a change it would be the Rocco R or a TTS for me.

Have to say if I fancied a change it would be the Rocco R or a TTS for me. Agree completely. I have decided to keep my ED30 for a little while longer -probably until next year, as only done 16k in 3 years. But if/ when i change my 2 favorites would be TTS or Rocco R. Figured for the price of a specced up Golf R, this is TTs money, which looks a whole lot nicer /special. The wife just loves the Rocco, and it is such a stylish car. JonC
I'm still yet to see the new R in Scotland! Plenty of (sorry, sinfully ugly) Roccos, but no R models. Time to head to the dealership to see the Golf R in the flesh.

Time to head to the dealership to see the Golf R in the flesh. Although I like the standard Rocco in some colours the R version does lool special whereas when I seen the Golf R I actually walked past it and had to do a double take. Maybe it just looks yoo similar to the car that I have just now, don't know but just didn't do it for me. We will have to agree to disagree on the looks of the Rocco
