smcnairn
Just got my hands on a mk3 golf gti 2.0 8valve. P plate black 3door in not bad condition. 99k miles on the clock. The problem i have is the rev limiter seems to cut in early at 5000rpm, and ideas why this is happening? Also seems very sluggish. Thanks steve
cruiser647
Hi Steve, Probably needs a good service. New oil, plugs, filters and possibly HT leads. Does the 2.0 still have distributor caps? If so, clean that out. Use some decent high rating fuel like shell V-Power/BP Ultimate to heal clean the injectors. The GTi MK3 was never a ball of fire though - too heavy. Good luck!
smcnairn
Thanks for the reply, been away busy with work so have put the car to the side for a while. Gave it a service today.. oil, filter, plugs, dist cap and rotor arm. Also got it on a diagnostics machine codes found 1. 00515- Cam position (hall) Sensor (G40) 2. 16-10 Signal outside specifications intermittent Searched a few forums with people having the same problems as me. They have resolved the problem with getting the timing checked and adjusted. The belt on mine looks fairly new. Possible ignition timing slightly out. Il keep you posted.
