Remove the cover to the rear washer. and pull the nozzle off and then push your washer stalk and see if water comes out. If it does then your nozzle is blocked. They are only £4.00 from Audi.

Hi All,

I think my washer problem stems from a leak beneath the front of the car below the passenger seat area any ideas why  I topped the washer bottle up and operated the rear washer then water pours from the said area but not the rear washer :( Also is there supposed to be 2 rear fog lamps on my A6 as if there is one of the bulbs have gone but i cannot find how to change the damn thing as always any help or advice very much appreciated +++

I worked on an A6 today, whole of the passenger compartment below the seat flooded with about an inch of water. Killed the BT ECU under the seat totally. Took ages to dry out the floor enough to put the parts back.

The hose had split apart for the rear wash wipe. This is a common fault apparently. The tube connectors are just below the BT ECU box and thse break apart, just plugged them back together again.

For what its worth, self same thing happened to me (Allroad). No spray at back, smell of screen wash in car, eventual realisation that my front passenger footwell was soaking wet. Found the pipe that was very sensibly located among a load of electrical wires and snapped it back together again. Mine came apart again a few months later so it may be worth super-gluing it. I have also wrapped the pipe in plastic to minimise any damage to electric’s if/when it happens again.

Hi,

Same things happened to my Avant.

Car was due into Audi for new fuel senders (under warranty) and i mentioned the rear washer, it seems to have stopped working after there was about a foot of snow a few weeks back.

They sorted it out, all they did was clean the nozzle out, it had got clogged up with washer fluid and grime...

No probs since...

Same thing in my All-Road after the big freeze this January in scotland - despite 1:1 washer fluid!

Passenger footwell soaked, front and rear (it drains to the back underneath the seat)

Glad I caught it, as ECU under front passenger seat was certainly at risk.

However, it took a day to sort it, dry out the foam under the carpets, etc.

I've had exactly the same fault in my 2006 A6 Avant this winter, with washer fluid filling up underneath the front passenger footwell. It took an expensive trip to the dealer to rectify. My car is out of guarantee but given the widespread nature of the problem wouldn't a group approach to Audi be appropriate? Unless I'm mistaken, I think UK law covers latent defects for a period of 6 years from sale.

Whilst we are on rear washer/wiper can anyone suggest a solution to following? When I now operate the rear wash the wiper sweeps normally but the washer jet rotates at the same frequency and range. Is the jet part of the locking assembly or is it meant to remain fixed( and spraying) while the wiper sweeps?

Thanks.

1999 A6 2.4, my pride and joy

Sorry 'me Cockney sparrow but I think you are looking at later models. Have now had a look at a friend's 2001 A6 Avant and he has the same. Jet is stationary when wiper arm sweeps. Looks like my jet feeder has seized up and is now moving with the arm. Waiting for some penetrating oil to take effect before trying again. Thanks anyway

Hi Everyone,

i have the same problem with my 2006 A6 Avant. My passenger side front carpet is damp.

Could some kind person please explain the following as I am in France at the moment and struggling to solve this problem:

a) How do I get access to the suspect joint in the rear washer pipe?

b) Do I need to remove the passenger seat?

c) How do I remove the carpet?

d) Assuming I can fix this with your kind advice, how do I access the Rear Washer spray nozzle connection.

Thanks in advance for your support, as yoiu can see I am new at this but always happy to embark on an adventure.
