sonicsnail
I stumbled across this thread and decided to take a look at my own non-working rear washer. 53 plate Allroad.. Rear washer never works. I pulled off the washer cover, and then pulled out the nozzle.. and pushed the washer.. eventually water came gushing out the back. I tested the nozzle off the car with a straw - and it was clear. I put the nozzle back in, and retested... but no joy. THEN I notice 2 puddles under the car. It appears that the washer fluid is leaking under the car, and then draining in 2 places - one about under the passenger seat, and the other behind the rear passenger seat. The carpets seem fine and dry inside. I can't for the life of me see where I'm meant to check for the pipe underneath.. though I CAN see a long plastic panel, that ISN'T where the leak seems to be... the water is bleeding out through a gromit/hole nearer the door. Any suggestions? Should I be pulling up the carpet? thanks, Pete
darkelk1966
You will need to remove your rear seats front passenger seat and door apature trims so as you can lift the carpet and insulation on that side. so as you can get to the pipes and connector. there is 50mm of dense foam insulation that will have soaked up the washer fluid this cannot be removed without cutting it into sections, it will take weeks to dry out correctly if you dont, under the insulation is the main wiring harness for the car and also the courtesy control module ( they all have this fitted) it controls interior light alarm central locking heated seats etc, these are a fortune to replace (new) £5-700 i have recently had to do this and managed on the third attempt to get a S/H replacement module ( they are all fried with the same problem of water ingress) i was driving around with the passenger seat removed and a lot of towels rammed under the insulation soaking up the water took two weeks to dry out enough to begin to replace the interior. then i had to reset the airbag light thats another story hope this helps Andy
