Munki
I have been offered (all legit like) a set of 17" Audi TT wheels, by a friend of a friend who is buying some nice new 19" from the dealer (££££££ ouch). Just wondering if any of you have any on a Passat and if so, do you have a picture I can see. Also, what would these wheels normally sell for second hand in average condition, i.e. no major scratches, baring in mind genuine Audi wheels, with tyres? Hopsta
I think you'll find that the bolt patterns will be different on the Passat, but you me able to get adapters. Graham
s4dreamer
[ QUOTE ] I think you'll find that the bolt patterns will be different on the Passat, but you me able to get adapters. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, I think the Passat is 5x100 like the Golf and TT. The only difference might be the offset. Munki, whip yer spare wheel out and look for "ETxx" stamped or marked on the inside. This is the offset. Then ask in the TT forum to see what the std offset for a TT is. Then ring your VW dealer and get them to tell you what the PCD is for your Passat (I'm pretty sure it's 5(bolts) x 100(mm between bolts)). R32North
Go here.... http://www.tyresave.co.uk/fitment.html and check PCDs, ET and C/bore for all sorts of cars and then you'll be able to determine if they fit.
R32North
What year is that Passat? Up to 96 was 5x100 PCD and 96 on was 5x112, but ET is different than a TT. See above.
Munki
it's a 99, but I thought they would fit nicely. Hope they do or I'll be damn upset. on the other hand, I'm sure I'll make a profit if I do sell 'em on. I'd better get looking before I part with the money. R32North
Ok, so it sounds like the PCD is oK, but the ET might be a few mm out. Check the ET on the Audi wheels. If its 30mm, then you're only 2mm out and you might get away withas the Passat ET starts at 32mm. So your track width will be out by 4mm overall, which might no make much difference, but don't listen to me I'm just surmising. If its 28mm, the you're going to be out by 4mm per side, 8mm overall from the minimum ET for a passat. Check with a professional outfit who know the tracking, etc of VW cars. Munki
asked a local wheel dealer in Sheff today, and he says there's no chance of getting em on So I am wondering if any of the golf boys on here might be interested.
R32North
Munki, don't want to ruin your chances of shifting the wheels but Golfs have a greater offset (ET) and so even less of a chance. Will look up which cars they might fit and get back to you!!
R32North
Beetle (new), Bora, Corrado VR6, Golf Mk 3 GTi & VR6, Golf Mk 4, Passat VR6, Vento VR6... all the above have the nearest ET to that of the TT, so someone might take em and take the chance. Golf IV here is 32 - 38 so same as Passat. Maybe spacers will be the answer for someone who is willing to give it a bash, depending on which direction they ET would go with spacers..... up or down! Techie
Dont forget TT rims would also fit Skoda Octavia, Fabia , SEAT Leon and MK4 Ibiza as these are all 5 x 100. Passat as of 98 is a 5 x 112 the same as Audi A4/A6 as its shares the same platform and suspension.
R32North
All very true, but isn't the small offset on TTs going to be an issue for cars that require a larger offset, ie all cars that aren't TTs!
Techie
To some degree yes but TT wheels fit just fine on mine And VAG on differ between ET 40 and 32 iirc which aint exactly the earth. I know for a fact having fitted alot of TT rims to other cars that they are just fine on... VW Golf (MK3 (GTI-VR6) and MK4) SEAT Leon (poss not R but they are 18's anyhow) SEAT Ibiza (MK4) Skoda Octavia Skoda Fabia Audi A3 (not new shape though as thats 5 x 112)
Techie
As set of TT competition wheels I fitted to a mates Ibiza PD 130 Sport Just needed 205/40 tyres same as what i have on my Fabia which are the same dimension wheel (ET32 7.5 x 17)

R32North
Well there you go then!! Seeing as the difference in the ET is so small, doesn't seem to cause an issue...... I guess this is what is being said! Enjoy those TT rims on yer Passat.
Wal
TT Wheels will fit the GolfIV, there are a few Aussies that have them. Pitty about them being 5x100 because they look sweet on a Passat.

Munki
So it looks as though I won't get them on my car, but what do you lot reckon I'll get for them on ebay or a golf forum? Including tyres with about 4 mil of tread on em?
Techie
£400 is about the going price with half worn tyres.
shao_khan
If they are the ones as shown on the picture above they seem (for whatever reason) to be a little less popular - mine went for just over £300 and they took a while before they went. If they are Comps then that should be a different matter.
Munki
Well, I think I'll put em on ebay and see what happens. If anyone wants to make me an offer around about £300 then I am sure we could do a deal. I'll just have to keep an eye out for some S4 wheels I think.
