MMI and Bluetooth

I'm struggling to pair my phone with my MMI equipped Q7. When I do what it says in the book, pairing the car with the phone, it fails. So I decided I would use my phone to pair with the car. When I search on my phone, it finds something called "Audi07854". This is obviously the car, but I can't pair with it. I'm wondering if this is because the previous owner has paired with it, and perhaps I need to delete him first? This shouldn't really be the case as it says you can have up to five phone.

Hmm... any advice?

Thanks.

Shouldn't matter who was paired up previously.

First of all what phone are you trying to pair up?

Which phone prep do you have? is there a cradle plate under the armrest?

Does it say AudiUHVxxxx or AudiBTAxxxx when you find it?

What version of the MMI is installed in the car, press CAR then VERSION to read it out or press SETUP and SETTINGS and scroll down to Version.

My phone is a Sony Ericsson C510. Phone prep is cradle in armrest yes. No handset in it, has space for just sim card too.

Nope, it just says "Audi07845" (or some other number, just looks like first 5 digits of a mobile, deffo starts 07).

Will check on the software version tomorrow and report back.

Thanks.

How old is the Q7, that sounds suspicously like the old motorola system, don't recognise the device you have found as the bluetooth has two possible options, UHV and BTA, so it looks to me like you have the in built car phone. Especially with the SIM slot, as neither of the two BT options have a SIM slot.

That's the MMI software version and it is 5150, fairly new so someone has updated it.

But back to your phone kit, does it deffo have a SIM slot in the phone cradle, if so then this is the Motorola system and is not bluetooth compatable with another mobile phone.

The only option really is to upgrade to phone prep high and get full bluetooth compatability.

You can just put a SIM in the cradle and it will work as a phone system, but of course with it's own number which a lot of people do not want.

The only phone that fits into that cradle is the motorola privacy handset which bluetooths to the car system like a head set, but a handset.

If your happy with a SIM in the slot, there are plenty of handsets available on ebay for a euro or so as no one wants them, I think I even have one here.
