Golf R in Mansfield

Spotted a white Golf R in Mansfield today. First impressions are underwhelming, especially in white, and it was a 4 door. I liked the rear lights, they were LED. The wheels looked nice but again, lost on white.

I'm sure the car would look great in blue but it'll have to be a loud colour to be attractive to me.

You probably have, but they just passed you by because they're overly understated...

Nope, definately haven't. I'd notice the R over the GTI. I don't think they're that understated, but would want one to look more hardcore, but not Ford RS or Scooby STi hardcore.

I`ve seen a fair few about now, they arent as bad as some people make out to be honest, deffo got to have it in a "loud" colour for it to be noticed. It all comes down to price and the desire to want/own one. :D

For me I would consider Audi S3 as its better build, better class and on most specs, cheaper.

Ditto re the S3. 5dr S3 is bigger too which I find useful.
I`ve driven a S3 Sportback for a couple of hours and its a really nice car, its properly fast too and Audi`s claimed sub 6secs to 62mph are easily obtainable  But when driven hard expect the mpg to drop alot.

That's the problem with all turbo engines. My old 4.2 n/a S4 pretty much always produced the 21mpg to a tank that was claimed for the combined cycle but I'm yet to own a turbo car (petrol or diesel) which meets its claimed figures.

PS My Maserati 4200GT (4.2 n/a again) actually beats the combined claimed 15mpg - I know I should not boast about it but it does 18mpg.
