johnpen
I noticed over the weekend, when I open a door on my 2006 cabrio on the DIS, the picture of the car shows that the wrong door is open! I've only just got the car, so I guess its been doing it all along. Any ideas?
Andy_Bangle
Sounds like the car set up is thinking its LHD, (it's something I've read of before) it can be changed with a tool called VAG-COM or by your dealer. Tipex
Do they swap the doors over on LHD cars then?
Andy_Bangle
Do they swap the doors over on LHD cars then? Yes and sometimes the steering wheel In fact has nothing to do with the door sensor in the light switch telling the DIS that the pax door is open when in fact it's the drivers
PetrolDave
Sounds like the instruments/MMI have been coded for a LHD car.
Tipex
I don't get it, the display shows a top down view of the car, showing the left side door is open, when in fact the right side door is actually open, how does it make any difference what side the steering wheel is on? The left of the car, is still the left of the car, unless this European government malarky has found a way of changing laws of physics in order to switch the left to the right? I'm sure you are correct in that it's the LHD/RHD coding, I just don't understand how it would get confused like that?

You know I'm right, I'm always right Instead of being told right door is open, the 'computer' is being told the drivers door is open, the problem is the car thinks it's in Germany of shows the wrong thing on the DIS. Same thing can happen when you adjust the drivers side heating, the screen reports 'passenger' or the Satnav (if the cars got it) can start driving backwards and doing loop the loop - I blame those pesky German programmers
Scotty
I had something kinda similar on my TT. Everything worked fine until I activated the two touch unlock i.e. one touch for the drivers door and second for both. One touch unlocked the passengers door. I couldn't find anywhere in Vagcom to swap it so I had to give it to the dealers. They had to contact Germany to get it sorted. No charge as it was obviously wrong from the factory. Different wiring for driver side/passenger side doors on a cabrio.... driver side has additional buttons for rear windows up/down and all windows up/down
Tipex
Nah, I reckon they've put the doors on the wrong side, do they open inwards?
Scotty
Should be easy to tell. The coloured bit would be on the inside and the window button on the outside. Hope that helps
