[Audi A3/S3] Towbar for an S3 Sportback?

Unless you want a big hole cut in your bumper/diffuser then your only hope is if Audi can do this themselves.....I had a tow bar fitted to my FWD A3 2.0Tfsi s-line 3yrs ago and it cost £900:eek:....it should have been £1000 ish but by sheer chance they had 3 customers who wanted the same conversion at the same time....all the same colour as well...Phantom Black....So I think we all had a job lot discount....well that`s the story the dealer told me.......but it was cheaper than a new car and I needed to tow a Jet Ski.....I`v seen a few other posts where others have paid the same to have tow bars fitted to their Audi`s and BMW....I think the cost of fitting a tow bar to the rear wheel drive BMW was even more than Audi charged...The real cost killer is that you`ll need a new bumper.....and it will need to be painted at the dealers.

I eventually got into Kayaking big time so I ended up biting the bullet and getting a Land Rover Defender as a second car to carry and tow all my gubbins....I just wish I had`t bothered with the tow bar addition because at the end of the day it was £900 wasted.:(:(....but at the time it was justifiable.

ps...if you do go the dealer route....then you`ll get a quality product......The tow bar is detachable and the rear aesthetics of the car are`t ruined by a butchered bumper/diffuser...the electrics were all incuded in the price as well.

Dealer route would be my preference subject to availability, its only for towing a small trailer and I dont want to butcher the rear bumper any more than I can help.

Thanks for the feedback

Yea....I seem to remember there was some issue when I had mine done about whether this option was available for 4wd A3`s or S3`s.....I think some part of the chassis or 4wd system may prevent a tow bar from being fitted....but I`am really not sure.....so I maybe talking a load of crap. What I do know is that if this dealer fit option is available then you wont be left with a butchered rear end....As I said in my previous post the dealer fit tow bar is a quality product and the new bumper ensures the aesthetics of the rear end remain unscathed.

Just been quoted £1100 as a dealer fit! Apparently the heat shields around the fuel tank require to be replaced/revised to accommodate the towbar as well as the revised lower spoiler section of the rear bumper.

A lot of money, but at least it will be a neat fit
