I think I'd let Holly have a go first while I played about with Kelly's kazoobas.

Really not sure why you are changing a special car for a (relatively) ordinary car Woppum. Especially as I've seen in other threads the 458 is easier to use day to day - isn't that what your M3 is for though?

Interesting you think that Andrew.

it is a very hard choice. The RS is a totally amazing car when you are driving it how Porsche intended. The truth of the matter is there is hardly anywhere you can do that unless you are travelling through these roads in Europe or taking it on track. These days my work life is so busy I hardly get time to have those opportunities anymore. Fact is I live in London and most my driving it to and from work. That is no job for the RS. It's too special.

the Ferrari is by no means ordinary Andrew. It looks very stylish, it is very fast, miles faster than the Porsche, it sounds like god gargling, inside is like being in a designer handbag and for 99% of real world driving it is more fun and liveable. The Rs clutch is very heavy, as is the clutch and although a very nice place to be, it's not the Ferrari.

my view is you have one life , why not try something new. There will always be an opportunity to have another Rs as long as I could afford it in the future.

The one issue is I know the rs will be a classic and a very good chance it will be worth more than a 458 in the future.

i am not selling the RS straight away. I want the right only for it and want to drive it back to back with the 458 for a bit ;)

I am seeing 4 cars at 4 dealers this weekend. Decision Monday! :)

Fair enough Sam. Sounds like a case to me of mothballing the RS and using it for that rare time off perhaps. A Fezza for the commute, taking depreciation into account, must be a brave move huh?

Jesus, why am I suggesting you don't need a 458? Carry on, ignore me, I'm just some cock that can't get his car off his drive! +++

It is all about black for me mate; only Fezza which should be only red IMHO is the F40.

When is the 458 Lairy coming out, i.e. same deal as the Challenge Stradale or Scud? Would that be worth hanging on for? Must be soon.

It is out oct next yr. if I buy this I can get on the list but will be around 280k new with no discounts as will be limited. Will be amazing but a lot of money. I'd look at it second hand 1-2 yrs in however an f12 will possibly be a better buy then... If I still like Ferrari ;)

I'm confused, you say the Fezz is better for day to day, the commute etc, but that's why you have the M3 isn't it? So you can keep the 'special' car for special occasions, and commute in virtual anonymity?

It's not a situation i'm ever likely to face, but I see Ferraris as being a total pain in the arse to live with, even in black, it's going to be a magnet for every weirdo/car bore/vandal in town, and while I know modern Ferraris are vastly improved, I'm still not sure they are viable as every day transport, running costs will be extortionate and reliability won't touch the Porsche.

It's the sort of car people hurl abuse at you for owning (yes I know that says more about them than you), and I can't help feeling the Porsche is more special anyway and doesn't come with the same image problems as a Ferrari?

S'cuse my ramblings, sounds like i'm on a downer for Ferraris, i'm absolutely not, and especially from a 'not a Porsche fan' guy i'm just trying to understand why you'd go from owning perhaps the perfect petrol head garage, 911 GT3 RS and M3, to owning what I see personally, as a lesser* car?

*all things being relative of course, the Fez is an amazing machine, but never destined to be an appreciating sought after classic like the pork, once it's gone, will you ever be able to get one back? Or will they end up out of reach and sitting in collections?

I say, buy the Fez, get it out of your system, but keep the Pork locked up somewhere safe and don't touch it until your bored with the Fezza!

Again very considered points and not wrong in any way at all. The truth is I may decide to keep both. My main issue is I live in London and have 1 underground parking space at my flat. I keep the Porsche at my parents and switch cars for the weekend. My weekend driving is hardly ever fun in the Porsche. A heavy everything is a nightmare. The 150% fun you get out the rs is so limited you can only ever access it on rare occasions. On the track it's very hard work. I get the feeling the car is much better than me and I'm not capable enough to drive it as fast. The people I track with. I end up being the slow coach. I accept this and know that if I track the Ferrari I may not be the best driver but I'm sure I could do a better job of keeping up. The Csl did slot of the work for me but still gave fun. The Ferrari I see as doing much the same. I'm no expert. I don't have the time to have track tutors nd spend every wk end at silverstone. I do now one trackday a year with friends and to be honest in the hard work Porsche I always feel out of my depth. I drive like a pansy ;) . For my current lifestyle the Ferrari suits. It is such a fantastic car, you have to give it the credit. It is miles and miles away from the 430 Spyder my mum had all those years ago.

im happy to attend a meet and show you all its capabilities. Sure it may never be a classic, but I'm not in the car game to make money, I'm in it to have fun. Life is for living and trying new things not clinging on to dear teddy you have loved and grown accustomed to since the dear old age of 2. The reality is if I get bored I can always go back.

Just incase it's not the right car I will be trying a Carrera gt tomorrow too. But don't think that's what I want.

Honest post - when I see a Fezza in London I never know whether to feel sad (coz a lot of engineering and design is being wasted pootling around the City at 5mph) or to laugh (at the occupant as his fillings are rattled over all the roads that keep getting dug up for new services).

This could mean I'm a grumpy old fecker but I simply don't get Ferrari's in the City. I always wonder how many ever get unleashed out of town. All I hope but I bet in reality it's just a fraction :(
