I know there have been tuned cars that were probably capable of it, but is this the first member with an 'official' 200mph car?? If not, what and who were the others?

Delimited M5's and M6's achieve 206 mph. Stock, just with the limiters off.

There have been at least 3-4 M5 owners I can think of (E60's, which is the car that could do it) as regular members on here.

There are a fair few cars here with the power for that speed but not the gearing - my GTR with longer 6th would have done it but stops on rev limiter/6th at 196mph, am sure the 700+BHP MTM Tuned RS6 would go on to the double ton. Not forgetting Robin's Red mk5 GTI or Flynn's sh!tbox of course!

Who on here had a delimited E60 M5/6, I can't think of anyone??

They were still cars that were capable of the speed, whether delimited or not, they were 200+ mph cars....

Sorry I can't agree on that, the M5/6 needs modifying (delimit map) to hit 200mph - so it can't qualify as an "official 200mph car" as per Torino101's question +++

That makes Sam's 458 the first official 200mph car I reckon?

True, they topped out at c167mph stock, with the limiter taken off they would go past 200 though...

But we don't know if we had a member with a delimited M5? Maybe we did? I'll see this out... :roflmao:

This was my exact point. Without tampering in any way, is this our first double ton club member? My car will do 200mph if dropped from high enough! But that's not the point...

So it's not the first then, as going by your OP your car would not need tampering with to do this, just a long drop

:P

According to this calculator CalcTool: Terminal velocity calculator

For a R35 GTR pushed out of a plane.....

Car mass 1700kg

Cross Sectional Area 22.5sq feet (from Motortrend)

Drag coefficient 0.27

Air density 1.29kg/m3

Gravity 1g

Terminal Velocity is 478mph :roflmao:

Woppum, if it worries you that the car is on the wrong side of the law then please feel free to bring it to me. I'll give you a brand new 5 series in exchange and I won't even ask you to contribute to my increased fuel costs in your Ferrari. Don't thank me, it's all part of the service.+++
