Firstly i would like to say Hi and i'm a newby to the club, so i hope that you dont mind me posting up what may seem like a few daft questions

I have just purchased a 2.5tdi b6 cab on an 04 plate

can any tell me if i should be able to let the windows down and back up again with my central locking remote control? i know it can be done with my mothers tt from the key fob but this doesn't seem to work with mine? do anyone know if it can be programmed or should already be programmed?

Congratulations on the purchase!

It's definitely possible on other variants of the A4/S4 B6, so I assume the cab is the same. You need a diagnostic cable and software such as VAG COM (aka VCDS). Loads of people on here have it (myself included, but I've only just got it, so don't trust myself with someone else's car yet!), so I'm sure someone will be able to lend you a hand. Alternatively, if your local dealership is customer-friendly, they may well do this for you for free, in the hope of getting more business in future.

The below probably wont mean much to you yet, but it's the coding information for the relevant module of your car that you'll need to change to get what you want.

{Comfort System}

Control Module Coding

Select 46 (Comfort System) Coding -> Function 07

+00001 - 10 Tamper alarms (Great Britain)

+00002 - Confirmation Anti-theft warning system blinks

+00004 - Selective Central Locking (SCL)

+00008 - Anti-theft warning system - activation of AWS

+00016 - Rear lid release locking via speed

+00032 - Comfort Locking via speed

+00064 - Comfort function via remote control - This will need to be set

+00128 - Right Hand Drive (RHD)

+00256 - Avant bit

+00512 - Confirmation remote closing (1x blink)

+01024 - Confirmation anti-theft warning sytem horn activation

+02048 - Door-/ window regulator logic

+04096 - Thatcham anti-theft warning

+08192 - No safe-function

+16384 - Side windows with insulated glass

Control Module Adaptation

Select 46 (Comfort System) Adaptation -> Function 10

-> Channel 61 (Variants Reduction)

0 - w/o light package / four door control modules (PR-QQ0/4R4)

1 - w/o light package / mech. window regulators rear (PR-QQ0/4R5)

2 - with light package / four door control modules (PR-QQ1/4R4)

-> Channel 62 (Comfort Function)

+001 - Comfort closing via remote for window regulators (not USA)

+002 - Comfort opening via remote for window regulators (not USA) These will need to be set too, along with any others required below

+004 - Comfort closing via lock cylinder for window regulators

  • 2 months later...

Well i am back for a bit more advice / ask if anyone knows what the codes would be.

it would seem while adding both +64 to the comfort system and the adding +1 for closing and +2 for opening.

It didn't quite work.

Original code in comfort was 06795 added +64 new code 06859

Original code for Channel 62 was 205 added +1 and +2 new code 207

result - windows open about and inch when holding unlock and when pressing lock they wouldn't do anything.

could someone help me and let me know if i have added them correctly or if it means that as it only opened an inch that it is a function that doesn't work on my car.

Original code in comfort was 06795 added +64 new code 06859

6795 = 4096+2048+512+128+8+2+1 so adding 64 is OK.

Original code for Channel 62 was 205 added +1 and +2 new code 207

205=128+64+8+4+1 so by adding +2 and +1 you've actually cleared some of the bits you wanted to set and set a bit you didn't want since 208=128+64+16

So the right value is 128+64+8+4+2+1 = 207 and not 208.

These values are bit fields and to get the right number you have to convert the decimal value back to the binary bits ir represents, add the bit(s) you want to set and re-calculate the decimal value.

When i had added both sets of codes it only brought the windows down about an inch and didn't take the windows back up again.

it was after a little bit of playing around - ie trying different codes for adding binary did i think that i had done it wrong and reset the system back to the original numbers before starting.

so while i wanted to have window opening and closing i feel that it may not be possible on my car.

could really do with someone knowing the software to see if i had programmed it the wrong way round though.
