A6 MMI Bluetooth Question :)

Hi All,

After a couple of years away I have returned to the fold with a new A6 S line 2.0 TDI - and loving it :)

One thing is bugging me though, I have the High Spec MMI (Hard drive and 3D Nav) which offers bluetooth connection to my Nokia E72. Unfortunately it connects in headset mode which means it uses the phones own aerial for the signal. The car does have the mobile aerial fin on the roof so is there anway to force the MMI / phone to connect as Sim Access Profile (SAP) instead so that it uses the better aerial of the car ?

Hope someone knows and can help !

It depends. If your car has the standard Phone Prep Low (with a cradle mount in side the centre armrest) then it does not support rSAP, and will only connect via HFP (Hands Free Profile), in which the phone is making the calls. If you have Phone Prep High, this does support rSAP, and the car will make the calls using the roof antenna, accessing your sim remotely.

Audi do sell an rSAP cradle, but last time I checked there was not a Gen 3 version which will fit the new A6 cradle mount, although this was a few months ago. Plan B is to check whether there is a Gen 3 cradle specifically for your E72, and use this to dock your phone to the car.

Regards,

MF.

As mf says, even though my A6 Allroad has the MMI high (3D HDD Based), I only have the phone prep low which means I can't use rSAP with my Nokia E71.

Ooo - I just noticed in your signature that you have the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. I've been trying to enable this on my car using VCDS for months, and I can't figure out what coding is required for the ABS module (this seems to be the last hurdle). Do you have VCDS? If so, would you mind sharing the coding of 03 - ABS Brakes? If you don't have VCDS, is there any chance I can plug my PC into your car to see how the coding is set next time I'm in the South? I'd be happy to enable other features for you at the same time...

Cheers!

MF.

PS - sorry Muppet - this is completely off-topic for your original post.

Thanks for the replies :)

ah nuts, looks like I have the low phone prep too - is it possible to upgrade from low to high phone prep ? or do they do a cradle for e71/e72 ?

It's not possible to upgrade without changing the whole MMI unit which is about 3K new or about £700 on ebay, problem being it will not be supported by Audi if you did upgrade.

Ouch, that's annoying :(

Thanks for the advice, hopefully there will be some new cradles for newer phones or a bluetooth rsap module soon.
