Sven
Why is it that companies don't bother to reply? I emailed PIAA UK and stated I'd like to order the SUPER SPORZA wipers and some bulbs, but no reply whatsoever... The PIAA USA site states the SUPER SPORZA is available, whilst the UK site still maintains "Coming Soon" (that's on there like forever now). What's with these people??? Well, if they can't bother to reply anywhere soon, stuff 'em...
Drillslinger
Dude, how bout asking if PIAA US will ship them to ya They've got the A8 in the US
s4dreamer
That's interesting Sven, 'cos when I had to email them about the A4 wipers, they were very quick to respond. Give them a couple of days (if you haven't done so already) as some companies don't yet appreciate that email is as important as a phone call or letter. Sven
Drill, they don't do online orders in the US, odd enough... Trev, you may be right, I sent it on saturday, maybe I'm too impatient? I'll wait a few days and then re-send it.
Mollox
This might be a silly question but does it make any difference if I’m buying for a LHD car (here in the UK I mean). Wipers go on both ways don’t they? I’m sure I bought Bosch Tripleedge a few years back for my LHD Golf. And PIAA don’t seem to do rear wipers for the S3/A3 do they? Trev – any idea on cost? Not apparent from the net… Ta

Sven
[ QUOTE ] and any opinions on this? [/ QUOTE ] That's what JayBee and Drill have. They look very smart and are neatly out of the way on the S3, wiping quality is good, but kinda similar to others according to JayBee. You do need arms as well tho I think... I might get these if the PIAA thing doesn't work out...
Mollox
are they the same???
Sven
I think either Drill or JayBee can tell you for sure, but I think they are the same as they have... As to the PIAA Check here The S3 is blank, but I reckon the A3 uses the same. They state sizes and prices for those (incl. rear). PIAA are silicone wipers, so that's a different thing all together I think.

My wipers have gone from bad (when new) to plain dangerous in the rain (now). I've been saying I'm getting new wipers for the last 12 months too..... Drillslinger
Inigo, you mean the ones on the Drivers side here: They're pretty much the same as the std wipers. Only IMO they are quieter and hold to the screen MUCH better at speed. My std wipers would start to lift at about 130 kph and by 160, they wouldn't even clear the screen. Whereas the Aero Wipers still cleared the screen at 200 kph. Fitting was a breeze, as long as you make sure NOT to torque the bolts down. I did this and sheared the little spindle thing: All in all, I thought it was a worthwhile mod. They wipers also have a lower profile, so look much "cleaner" from the inside. But like Sven said, you need new arms as well as the blades. I have part numbers and prices in a thread here somewhere, try searching for "Aero Wipers" or "Golf Wipers" something like that (I'll look too) Hope it helps
Drillslinger
Found the old thread HERE. But to paraphrase: Alrighty then, part numbers (Courtesy of Little SI ) for EVERYONE, in one, easy to read post..... Aero-Wiper Arm (Driver Side, LHD): 1J1-955-409-D Aero-Wiper Arm (Passenger Side, LHD): 1J1-955-410-D Aero-Wiper Blade (Driver Side, LHD): 1J1-955-425-A Aero-Wiper Blade (Passenger Side, LHD): 1J1-955-426-A Aero-Wiper Arm (Driver Side, RHD): 1J2-955-410-C Aero-Wiper Arm (Passenger Side, RHD): 1J2-955-409-C Aero-Wiper Blade (Driver Side, RHD): 1J2-955-426 Aero-Wiper Blade (Passenger Side, RHD): 1J2-955-425 Make sure you confirm the part numbers before hand of course
s4dreamer
[ QUOTE ] Trev – any idea on cost? Not apparent from the net… [/ QUOTE ] Think they were roughly £13 each including shipping. I think your rear one will be the same as that for an A3 of the same year (probably the same on a Golf too). I've got Aero wipers on the R32, and they do a pretty piss-poor job of cleaning the screen. I'm not sure whether it's cak left on the screen from the manufacturing process or just the wipers, but a good clean with AutoGlym Glass cleaner didn't do anything. I guess I need to order and try the Meguiars clay bar.
Drillslinger
Yeah Trev, good point. Whiule mine clear the rain off the screen well, they don't work too well on the grime that accumulates But washer fluid generally does the trick

Sven
Well, you never know... better late than never I guess. PIAA UK reply: Thank you for your enquiry. The Sporza blades will not be available in the UK until April. Prices will be on the website during March. PIAA bulbs are manufactured in Japan using latest technology and they use their own formulation of gases in the bulb. The glass tube is of hardened glass and the base of the bulb is welded and does not rely on push fit as do some of our competition. The PIAA brand is similar as Audi is to the VW group. Skoda will do a similar job. To purchase go to www.a-pp.com Regards Anyway, I complained about the wipers and it seems my dealer has set me up with some new ones. Much better now... Sven
Hmm, PIAA H7 bulbs in Platinum White (the legal ones) are £36.40 plus £11.75 posting charge, which amounts to £48.15 for a single set of bulbs. Philips Blue Vision H7 are £29.50 with free delivery from www.powerbulbs.com (ex eventual Tyresmoke discount). Big difference methinks...
Drillslinger
Sven, to be perfectly honest with ya dude, I MUCH prefer the Osram SilverStars I'm using now to the Blue Vision. Not saying that the Blue Vision's weren't an improvement over std, but the SilverStars (equivalent to Vision Plus) put out more light, in a much better pattern. They're just std light as opposed to bluish. I'm looking to replace my Blue Vision high beams (H7) with SilverStars, so if I get the H7's by next Sunday, we can try them out in the S8 before heading home At least THAT way you can see them 1st hand before ordering Just my 2¢
Sven
Ah, thanks for that Drill, I didn't look at the Osram before... (I'd expect more of the same somehow). So they give more light as the BlueVision you reckon? Since I want a replacement for the high beam 'spotlights' (which assist the Bi-Xenons) I was looking for a colour temperature to match the Xenons. That said, the BlueVision halogen 'markers' ('city lights') I fitted do not match the Xenon all together, though they are less yellow as std. halogen bulbs. Another odd fact, check Osram application guide and you'll see the output of both Silverstar and Cool Blue is 1500 lumen. Cool Blue just has a different colour temperature... So that says they put out the same amout of light, no? Slightly confusing... However, for some conditions/applications (fog f.i) yellow is better than white apparently. Maybe that's why you find the Silverstars more agreable than BlueVision. Could it be a (winter) weather thing you reckon?
Drillslinger
OK, put as simply as I can come up with (Otherwise it's just too long and confusing ) The Blue Vision's were an improvement over std. But didn't project the light out much further, although they DID reflect things like traffic signs MUCH better than std. After quite a while (like 2 years or so) the Blue tint started to flake. That was only a minor problem, as I didn't notice til I changed them. When I swapped to the SilverStars, the first thing I noticed was that the light projected much further down the road, plus more to the shoulder of the road. You know what, after all that, I realize, I've got Blue Vision's in as High beams now, and want to get SilverStars, so I should have BOTH at the Ring next Sunday If you want, we can swap'em around then
