new d3 owner isofix and boot cover screws

Hi,

I posted a while ago looking for a8 buying advice. I finally bought one last week (tons of options - 56 plate but wide cluster display + dab and dvb-t - so I'm guessing MY07?). I'm very happy but have one small problem with the isofix points in the back, the space between the backrest and the isofix loops is so tight that I can't attach the child seat without destroying the leather. Even fitting those plastic sleeves that came with the child seat doesn't seem possible. Is there some trick like moving the backrest up? I'm not sure how many versions there are but mine have the same design as the front comfort seat backrests and don't have thed convenient gap that the isofix section in the manual shows.

As a completely unrelated question, does anyone know what those small plastic screws/clip-in nuts are called that hold the left and right compartment covers in the boot? Where can I get replacements - I'm missing 2 of the nut-things that clip into the wall?

hi laney, unfortunately can't answer your questions, as I don't have isofix child seats, and am not sure which screws/clip-in nuts your after.

I'm sure someone will be along with an answer soon though.

Same problem in my D2 S8 with the sports seats in the back.

However, with a bit of brute force (having first wrapped the plastic sleaves with duck tape after trimming them a little so they do not dig into the leather so much) I have got them in, and the isofix arms on the seat now slide in OK. I also use the "Prince Lionheart" 2 part seat protectors as well under the seats.

Removing the sleaves leaves a small indentation in the leather which quickly dissappears after an hour or so. Suggest you put plenty of leather conditioner on before mounting the seat to make sure the leather stays supple.

many thanks for your replies, will try and post some pictures on the weekend. I managed to squeeze in the plastic sleeves yesterday, hope it doesn't leave too much of a mark when I remove the seat in a year or so. the little plastic screws I meant are the ones that hold the doors for the battery compartment on the right and tv tuner/mmi box/amplifier compartment on the left of the boot in place.

Talking about parts, where do you typically get your parts from (second hand and new)? Can anyone recommend a good independent specialist in the SE london/kent area? Are there any official dealers in the area worth their money?

The little screws might only come as part of the cover. I don't have access to ETKA at the minute as I'm away for a week. At worst, a8parts could probably supply you with a new side panel.
