My new 911

After a month of waiting, it's finally arrived!

It's everything I expected and more. So much character, so much depth of ability. I love the looks, the noise, the way it drives, the smell, the build quality, everything. Fantastic.

Picked it up from Porsche this morning. Salesman picked me up in a Panamera (nice place to sit by the way) and the handover the process was excellent.

My heart was in my mouth as I drove it for the first time. Of course, I've driven it before on the test drive but there's nothing like driving it as your own car. The first thing you notice is how small it is, it really does shrink around you. More than any other car I've had it feels alive. It isn't immediately accessible because of the pedal layout which is offset towards the centre and because the pedals are hinged from the floor. But once you get used to that you can really enjoy the depth of performance. The steering is very precise and communicative and the brakes are great. Balancing the clutch and throttle is a fine art but like any car it eventually becomes second nature.

I haven't pushed the car hard as yet - after all they have a fearsome reputation - but there appears to be masses of grip and you get plenty of feedback through the wheel.

Once I've had a chance to understand the car a bit more - I'll report back. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the following pics...

It looks tiny next to my Audi

Allow me to correct that for you.

"it makes my Audi look crap"

No offence intended. It looks stunning. The rear angle is certainly the best 911 stance of all time in my view. I'm delighted the day lived up to expectation. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh one day.
