Help: mounting/connecting TV Tuner into W12

I have a US model 2007/D3 A8L W12 with backup camera and rear seat entertainment (headrest LCD's and DVD changer in boot).

I would really appreciate it if someone with the knowledge could enlighten me on where the OEM TV Tuner mounts and how it connects.

I specifically need help with:

1. Where is the mount point for the OEM TV Tuner. My car has the DVD Changer in the boot below the Audi Navigation DVD Player so it's difficult for me to see back there. Will I need to take out the interior panel around these components in install the Tuner?

2. The TV Tuner video out is FBAS/FAKRA and I believe connects to a controller in the boot that also connects with the backup camera and the MMI head unit. Does the controller already come with a FBAS/FAKRA cable for the TV tuner rolled up and unattached on the other end or will I need to obtain a FBAS/FAKRA cable?

3. The TV Tuner looks like it has two MOST interfaces (one green, one red)? Is this correct and if so why are there two MOST interfaces? Do I connect to existing cables that are already in place? Will I need a MOST splitter cable/harness? How many MOST cables will I need to connect?

4. And lastly, will I need a power splitter as well?

Thanks in advance for you time.

I think you are confused about MOST interfaces. The red connector is power/diagnostic/aux inputs and outputs. The single green connector is the FBAS video out which in your case will connect to the camera module. The black connector is the MOST connector.

The TV mounts on the oppoiste side of the MMI panel to the radio, so as you look past the radio module below the DVD nav drive you can see space for teh TV tuner to mount vertically with the red connector to the left. If you have the DVD changer installed (RSE) then it will be tricky to install the TV tuner as you will have to remove everything from the MMI section in the boot to install the TV module.

Thanks for your reply craigyb!

I've attached a photo of the TV Tuner and the green and red connectors that I thought were MOST. They are the two connectors at the bottom, the green in the bottom center and the red in the bottom right. I thought the power was immediately to the left of the green FBAS video out and the far left black interface was for the Aux inputs harness?

If that's not the case then would I only need a MOST splitter (like the ones that come most AMI retrofit kits), a power splitter, a FBAS video cable, and a set of Aux input RCA connector bundles along with the blue harness piece that plugs into that interface, correct?

I figured as much, I guess I'll have to just try taking it apart so I can get back there. If I can remove the DVD changer and get it out of the way do you think I'll need to remove any of the interior boot trim? (if trim is the right word, i'm talking about the fabric interior moulding surrounding all the electronics after you take the removable cover off)

Sorry, some confusion there, the conectors you are referring to are green and brown pairs for the 4 antennas used in reception. They are TV1, 2 3 & 4.

The single green connector is video FBAS out

The black multi pin connector (which i thought you had a red plug connected to as it is normally coloured red) is the ppower/diag/aux as you figured.

The connector next to the green FBAS is the MOST connector.

I would contact kufatec usa for the appropraite wiring harness.

I checked Kufatec USA and they sell the FBAS cable for @ $30 shipped (@ 20 GBP). The frustrating thing is they don't sell the TV Tuner Wiring kit on the USA site. (This kit: KUFATEC GmbH - Kabelsatz TV Tuner Audi A8 4E inkl. LWL MMI 2G). I did send them a message on their contact link so we'll see what they say.

Furthermore, it is not clear if the above kit includes the red plug that connects to the black multi pin connector for the ppower/diag/aux. So even if I ordered from Germany along with the Aux in harness, I still might not have everything I need.

BTW, I saw you had posted a pinout on another thread relating to TV Tuners. Is this the pinout for the red plug for black multi pin connector?
