Golfer
Hi Guys after a great year with the E90 M3 it's going:rolleyes:, nothing wrong in fact it's been more that great. I just need a change (as usual), so ordered for December delivery the M-Sport 550i in Space Grey with Oyster & Black 19" sport wheels code 351M + most sensible toys;) Your thoughts
garcon magnifique
With the sort of money that probably came out to I think I'd have gone a bit further and got an Alpina B5. (And personally I'd have gone for Sophisto Grey or a deep dark blue). The new 5 series is growing on me, but Jeeesus Fecking Christ it's expensive. A decently loaded 530d is over fifty grand list. And I thought Audi prices had gone silly.
Tipex
I was following a dark blue 545i (I think, either that or a 550) the other day, was an estate and looked great, we were just plodding along, and then the road opened up, and the 5 just dissapeared, no fuss, no noise, it just went! I was quite impressed.
Andy_Bangle
Just need to invest in an ACS exhaust for that added M-car sound:
Brabus
Another defector here, looking to sell the M5 and get into something 4x4. GTR will probably fit the bill for now.
Mook
550i is a sound choice. Stealth
garcon magnifique
Stealth is one word that springs to mind when considering a 550i. Another is "depreciation".
Mook
I don't think Golfer cares about that if he's dumping his M3 after a year - it all depends on the finance deals available I guess.
garcon magnifique
This would appear to be true. As a fan/victim of several heavily depreciating cars, I ought to ask him how he does it...
Golfer
Well mate you won't believe this: I got a fully loaded F10 M-sport 550i for wait for it £57K, I got for my december 2009 reg M3 after paying 50K for it : £44580.00 PS) with a tune it should go like stink. Andrew
What was actually up with the M3 for you to want such a different change? Was it too focussed, not practical enough etc etc? On the subject of depreciation, bloke here bought a new loaded Range Rover. Could have saved himself 10k by buying one with a couple of thousand miles on the clock. Daft tw4t. NewNiceMrMe
I think the 550i is a superb choice. Lovely car and much more of an all-rounder than the M3.
Golfer
I looked at second hand just a few months old, they wanted "New Money" and they were all SE's, the M-Sport has just come out, no problems with the M3 great car just getting a little older and as Mr Me says "it's a great all rounder". If I was paying that much for a car I'm pretty sure I could and would pay up to 10 grand more to have it new and in the exact spec I want.
rottenbend
When it's 12 years old, I'll buy it for £1500 to replace my 540i

Andrew
Perhaps Garcon, but what ever happened to the adage that "you don't get rich by giving it away"? He had a bit of a windfall so perhaps he wanted to treat himself but to me it doesn't seem like a sensible approach. Dropping a load of cash on a Ferrari or something sure, but on your daily driver when you don't have to?
Brabus
Ahem... Was hoping to slip it in discreetly. Trying to import a second-hand one from the US (with the USD being crazy low against the CHF it would be daft not to). And before shipping installing a Switzer P800 tune. An 800 bhp car for 80K USD...lovely.
Andrew
Might that then be THE most powerful car we have ever had on here? My mate has just started working in Zurich and is loving your exchange rate ...
Biscuits
Your thoughts Well done mate, I think that's a great choice... and I'm very sure it's going to work out a better option than the £53k frozen option I'm sure once Evolve et all have worked some sums out, it'll be a VERY quick and capable car! Right, I'm off on the BMW car configurator
