Golfer
Would that be the detuned engine of the X5/6M cars? I would NOT think so, I stand to corrected here though if it were then 100+ bhp is on the cards, however if not, it is tuneable and will /should be good for another 50/85BHP without stress. We will have to wait and see who comes up with the software.
Mook
What's the 550 put out as standard - 400+? That'll easily be tuneable to high 400s with a proper exhaust and cats, plus a decent remap. Nice :D

Chick
The new 550i uses the same 4.4V8 TT engine that's in the facelift X5 50i. 407/408bhp and 600Nm @ 1750rpm. The 5 series does 0-60 in 5.0s, the X5 5.5s ! Think that proves that the engine has a gob load of torques.

shark_90
This sounds great what will the gains be please?. We'd need to have a proper play with one, but there's serious potential there. Possibly three figure potential...

Shame you've ordered it in such a rubbish colour then, otherwise I'd have yours! Maybe I'll have to settle for a (considerably quicker) XFR instead. gizze
Hi Guys after a great year with the E90 M3 it's going:rolleyes:, nothing wrong in fact it's been more that great.I just need a change (as usual), so ordered for December delivery the M-Sport 550i in Space Grey with Oyster & Black 19" sport wheels code 351M + most sensible toys;) Your thoughts You know my thoughts on the new 550i, think it's a corker. I did however mean get one at 12 months old and with £20k off list, but if there are not many then you could do alright. Having said that, space grey and black??!! Crap colour combo imho. I would have the dark grey and a lighter interior myself.
gizze
Did you know the Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo is £70k with loads as standard, like comfort seats, bluetooth, nav prof etc. etc. And I bet they would take £5k off that at the moment, even though there is 'no discount' on Alpinas. May be worth considering, cause in 3 years when the 550i is £27k the B5 will still be £40k.

Hate to say this John, but it doesn't loose as much as the 5 series it is based on. E60 545i's vs B5s at 4 years old and the difference was nearly 50%!! If you want to have a chance of some resale I would get a touring, they always sell so much better. Oyster is a nice interior.

I think the 550i M sport will be quite rare, I will take my chances on RV, I usually do ok on the PX front, we will see. I have been told I am the only order for the 550i M sport so far, this could be good who knows. The other thing is the % series has gone up market some this time round it may help RV. garcon magnifique
Space Grey is still a crap exterior colour though. Resale on saloons across all market sectors is pretty rubbish. Estate versions always find buyers easier. When you're looking at high end petrol saloons it just gets worse. Resale generally on Alpinas is fairly scary (except for the D3), but gizze is right - the few B5s there are out there keep their value pretty well over 3 years, especially compared to the standard BMW equivalents.
