Phantom black / Metallic Black?

Hi All, it's been ages since i've posted here. I've just bought my first Audi an A4 S-Line which is listed as being metallic black in colour, what's the difference between metallic black and phantom black or are they both the same?

I've seen phantom black listed as phantom metallic black, so not sure about the difference.

I understand there a few different blacks, metallic, brilliant and pearl, just don't know where the phantom bit comes into it. Any pointers much appreciated.

Brilliant black is a standard finish.

Phantom Black is a pearl effect

On the B8 A4 there is also mamba black which is metallic but is an exclusive colour so mega £££.

If it's listed as metallic black it's almost certainly phantom black.

Thanks for clearing that up drinks. It's a 2007 B7 so I guess its Phantom Black.

Gave it a good clean and polish after purchase and that colour does look great in the sunshine. Am enjoying the Audi experience so far.

Just out of curiosity I checked the paint code in the service schedule which says the paint code is: LZ9Y which according to 2007 Audi A4 Touch Up Paint Colors this page is Phantom Black Pearl, so well chuffed with that :-)
