garcon magnifique
My new car is on Order for next year (january ish). It's the new X3 M Sport 313 BHP diesel, fully specced. Should be quick and economical + usable 12 months a year (I Hope). You are officially F*cking Mental.
Golfer
Yes, probably the best in the world and by some distance - and I'd buy a Touring if I had to buy diesel. If it was petrol though, I'd just the better styled and closer engineered Audi Avant.I still think the TT was a better drivers car than the Z3. I didn't say the TT of today was better the Z - cos' I personally don't think it is a patch on the Z. It's lame, soft and numb. I've driven the supposed performance version and I thought it was pants, albeit 2 years ago. I may well be a big critic of the ride of the Z, but there is no way in this world the TT is anywhere near it. In my opinion. Why are you changing the 550i so soon Golfer? That's a cracking car and I'm amazed you're replacing it with an X3. I am changing at the end of the year, I think it's going "Over seas" got a top price for it so thinking " a bit more practical for me these days" would be the new Diesel X3 35D with 313 BHP on tap and 630NM it should be a quick truck and usable all year round. The 550i M Sport is very quick, which I seem to be exploiting all the time. I am getting it in the neck from the wife who is in it most of the time these days she gets scared sh*itless. So a come down finally. The X3 in this guise is no slouch though @ 5.6 too 62MPH. Golfer
The Jaguar 3.0 diesel isn't far behind the BMW offerings, arguably better on refinement but some way behind on economy. You really must be joking yea, F*cking Jags are crap and slow in diesel form and all the rest below the "R".
garcon magnifique
Can't be arsed checking all the figures now, but headline figure for the Jag twin turbo 3.0d in the XJ and the S model XF is 275bhp. only the very latest BMW 35d and 40d and thirstier V8s can better that. The jags really were IMO old man.
m4ttm4son
I drove a Z3 1.9 for 7 weeks. It was ****. My MX-5 decimated it. That's where you went wrong. The four cylinder models were brought out for Pykie Pete to buy for his missus because he couldn't afford a proper one with 6 cylinders. In 6 guise it's a great, comfortable, less focussed alternative to the MX. Both are equally gay, but I care as much as TDK does The M Roadster was and still is a great car, never mind the Coupe. garcon magnifique
If not having ridiculous back breaking suspension is "old man" then I'll take it thanks. I'd buy an XF or XJ diesel before anything German. Besides, I refuse to be drawn into any discussion on the merits of particular marques and models with someone who is ordering an X3.
