Gazdaves
Hi My Audi 18" SLine wheels on my A4 Avant need refurbing but they seem to have a plastic coating on them I,ve been to a number of wheel refurbers and they have said they have never seen this before and don't seem to want to refurb them. Do they come from the factory like this? Anybody else got this problem? Anybody got any ideas??? Thanks in advance Gary
PeterS
I had no problem getting the alloys on my A4 S'Line refurbed, but they look to be a different syle to yours. Have they been refurb'ed before do you know - something doesn't look quite right to me, but that's just a guess - I'm no expert Peter
Gazdaves
Hi Pete not sure if they've been refurb'ed before as they were on the car when I bought it. Did yours have a plastic coating on them? Thanks Gary P.S.How much did yours cost to get refurb'ed?
PeterS
No plastic coating as far as I'm aware Gary; certainly nothing that I could see, and nothing mentioned by the guys that refurbed them. I used these guys; IIRC it was around £450 for 4, but that include one new Goodyear tyre as well which probably accounted for £170 ish of the cost Peter
maersk
It looks much more like a VERY thick lacquer coat, probably applied after a previous refurb. What does the spare look like?
Sarge786
I Agree with maersk, although can't tell from the pictures clearly, I think it may be just lacquer coating effect. This may be because someone had previously had them refurbished before you. Cheers Sarge
Gazdaves
Do u know how to get the lacquer of? Spares like new. Thanks Gary
Gazdaves
And if I get it of will they be refurb'able?
maersk
As you say the spare is like new then I deffo go with previous refurb and thick lacquer. Just get them to a refurb guy who dips and strips with the tyres off. It will all come off in the bath, no prob.
Zafi
Could be powdercoat, then powdercoat clear on top? Nitromors will bring it off. £200 max to get them redone at your local backstreet powdercoater. I use CAS in Leeds/Bradford
