Build date versus delivery date?

Over the December/Snow period there were massive issues with BMW deliveries. There was a death at the port where they arrive which caused its closure by the HSE whilst that was investigated, then it snowed, then cars kept arriving, then BMW stopped updating the dealer systems with projected delivery dates.

It really was pot luck. A december delivery for us also became a mid January delivery.

The US builds are "normally" 4 weeks from build finish to arriving in the UK.

Mine only came from Germany but was built week 50/51 so I was lucky to get the car when I did after what you have said, my dealership collected my car on their own transporter to hurry the delivery up.

On a similar theme to another thread, I had to spend 7 hours cleaning the other one inside and out at the weekend (it's my wife's). I think it's only the second time it's been vacuumed in 16 months as I refuse to do it. I think she was pleasantly surprised to find they were carpets in it.

Guess what didn't happen yesterday.:roflmao:

To be fair to them, this time it was MrsMe who rearranged the date due to having a busy end-of-week diary.

She picks it up next week - when she decides to ring them and say she's ready.:roflmao:

I give in.

Women you have to laugh, we are ready................ when you are my dear of course.

Update...

We still don't have it, but it's not the fault of the dealer.:roflmao:

MrsMe has told them she has been far too busy to take hours out of her day when they messed up the delivery in the first place and "I'll come for it when it is convenient for me, not you this time'.

This has resulted in 3 phone calls from the dealer.:roflmao:

She rang me a few moments ago to say they'd now offered to deliver it to our house and offered their apologies for all the problems we've had.

So she said yes, that's fine......

...bring it next Wednesday, morning.:roflmao:

So it is now fixed and coming on the 30th.:roflmao:

I've just given in on it now and am sitting back and enjoying the sideshow.

Interesting - MrsTP's Golf went back in late February (end of PCP) as her new Polo was due to be delivered on 1st March.

She's currently driving a new Eos TDi BMT - care of VW UK.

The Polo is on a ship somewhere on an Ocean on Planet Earth - apart from that fact, nothing else on when she'll see her Polo !! +++

BMW SE are now quoting 1 year delivery on the new X3... I wonder if that is one human year or 1 BMW year?

Thats interesting because I thought our local dealer was bullshitting about the demand for X3's a few months back. He said they couldn't get hold of them quick enough and I just thought he was telling a pack of lies, as usual.

Now then TS, are you absolutely certain you're happy with the spec?

Don't go there. I wasn't allowed to order 'premium bluetooth and USB', as my HR people said it was a phone kit... I finally got them to understand that the phone bit was standard and I was looking for streaming audio, only to find out the car was already in build, so I couldn't add it anyway!

Fückers.

I also discovered that '2 or 3 wheeled motorcycles are strictly forbidden for business travel'. Which is a bit silly when your head office is next to the London Eye!
