All,

My first post on tyresmoke. So I have an A8 D3 with factory Motorola phone in the centre console. On the MMi screen it says "Sim card not functional." I tried Orange 2G and 3G sims, O2, vodafone and T-Mobile. All said the same. I think the cradle is working because it says "please insert sim" then recognises when I do and gives the above error.

Searching on here I thought maybe I need to update my MMI software (possibly a software bug?) My car is still running very old software.SW: D3-HU 6300 02.9.0 0309.

So I bought an official Audi 3 disk set of MMI-High EU 4LO 998 961 disks. When I start the process Disk 1 fails with the error "No valid Update CD found!" I tried disk 2 to see what happens and it had this error "Metainfo.txt not found! MetaInfo cannot be analysed!"

A bit more searching on here and I discovered I may need to install an intermediate version first 1110 or 2120? but I dont seem to be able to find a definitive answer or anyone selling them.

Anyone got any ideas on my phone issue or my update issue?

Thanks all in advance for any help - much appreciated!!!

Yep.. 0.2.9.0 needs an intermediate update (like 11.2.0), then you can update from there.

I had a pile of trouble getting my Motorola to read SIM cards (though it read my Dad's ancient Virgin SIM OK, so it worked). Not sure if an updated firmware will allow it to read more SIM cards as I took mine out and swapped it for a bluetooth unit anyway.
