Hi there,

I also have a 2005 B7 and have done the same mod.

as long as you have the correct steering control box etc, you just do the coding to the steering wheel to tell it it has tiptronic on the steering wheel, see below:

Coding

  • 0?xxx: Steering Wheel
    • 0 = Standard (without Multifunction)
    • 1 = 3-Spoke Steering Wheel (Sport Steering Wheel)
    • 2 = Multifunction Steering Wheel with Radio Control
    • 3 = Multifunction Steering Wheel with Radio/Telephone Control
    • 4 = Multifunction Steering Wheel with Radio/Telephone/Voice Control
    • 5 = Multifunction Steering Wheel with Radio/Voice Control

    [*] 0x?xx: Options

    • +1 = Tiptronic

    [*] 0xx?x: Board Computer & Cruise Control

    • 0 = Board Computer & Cruise Control not installed
    • 1 = Board Computer installed
    • 2 = Cruise Control installed
    • 4 = Board Computer & Cruise Control installed

    [*] 0xxx?: Rear Wiper (Chassis)

    • 1 = Rear Wiper not installed (Sedan/Cabriolet)
    • 2 = Rear Wiper installed (Avant)

Just add 1 the third digit of the coding. Note that the second digit must be changed to one of the multifunction options.

Let me know how you get on.

hi quattro tdi thanks for your reply. i have managed to diagnose the problem and yes your right the control module is the wrong one as in my previous post the control module is 8E0953549T,now this specific module that ends with the letter T on the end is from a B7 RS4 which only came with a manual gearbox, therefore this specific control module did not have the function for any gearbox related features preprogrammed in to it ,thats why it did not show up on the vag com for me to recode it.

i am going to have to source a new control module which ends with the letters Q or R which are high line modules and then find some one with vag com AGAIN.

hope all this makes sense.is it possible you could let me know what model number your steering wheel control mdule is.

thanks.

kalvin.
