fizzbitt
Honestly why are people such complete tw@s? Twice i have had people say they are coming to view the car at x pm on x date and having advised both that i would have to leave work early to ensure i get home before it gets dark and make sure i get the car washed and they dont show up. Is it too much to send a text to say 'Sorry but we wont be coming' since i dont have their number as they blocked theirs when they rang me. I swear the next person that calls me to say they want to view the car better either leave me their number or i will advise them that they better let me know if they change their mind! Andrew
I did hear of a chap selling his E92 M3 for £35k being offered £20k and five Nissan Micras ...
fizzbitt
That's actually quite amusing... not for the seller though. To top it all off after she didn't show... I've just got back in after meeting a mate for a bite to eat and got a parking ticket. Perfect end to a perfect day! lol
patently
I did hear of a chap selling his E92 M3 for £35k being offered £20k and five Nissan Micras ... Which is funny because in fact, it would have been fair to offer him £35k and five Nissan Micras for the car he had on sale for £20k...

drpellypo
I have got to the point now where I am deliberately (and uncharacteristically) rude to potential buyers. It seems the only way to weed out the time wasters. People who genuinely want the car aren't bothered and buy it anyway. People who are out to waste your time realise you can't be bothered with them and give up quick.
theduisbergkid
I ask for both mobile and landline numbers, genuine buyers don't mind, timewasters will object. Quickest way to sort the men from the boys. If someone won't give a phone number, they're not coming to view my car.

Standing in the empty showroom,50 yrs old with nothing, as his wife`s moppin` the floors!!
NewNiceMrMe
Way back when.... I sold my white Toyota Corolla GTi-16 (hatch, when they were nice) to a copper from Whickham (and that was a fair trek for him as I was living in North Yorks at the time). Lovely bloke, but thats another story. But, before he bought it, a 50-something bloke turned up in a green GTi-16 Coupe (the crap looking ones that no-one wanted). He ragged the arse off my car to the point that I told him to stop. He got out when we got back to the house, walked over to his car without saying a thing and drove straight off. He completely ignored 2 attempts I made to ask him what he thought as he walked to his car, and didn't even respond when I shouted (very loudly) "w*nker" as he drove off. There are some people in life who just think it is entertaining to waste other peoples time or burn their fuel off. Commonly known as "w*nkers". LUMME!! fingers crossed!! Allow me... Yes, MrMe, I was concerned about losing the car to the receivers. You can find aforementioned vehicle on Autotrader if you search for "Prestige Cars". I like to wear a dress, called a kilt, although with national sporting teams as poor as ours you lot south of the border would be crossdressing too. hooli
I still cant understand why anybody would waste their time taking a private car for a test drive that they have no intention of buying  I can sort of understand it from a main dealer as they are always open etc but still too much effort for me... When I have sold cars in the past, I always say on the phone that I am happy to take somebody for a test drive but they are not driving without full asking price in cash in my hand and proof of ins. Haven't had a timewaster yet

Brabus
I've just completed selling my M5 - only took 9 months. Had numerous people trying to swap their shitty cars for it, 5 people came to test drive the car before finally getting rid. Never again!

Brabus
GTR? Corvette ZR1? Or I might just be sensible and plump for a diesel Jeepy thingy.

But then again, in Switzerland you probably had to get a permit to be able to sell your car between certain hours on certain days! Diesel jeepy thing? You couldn't get any further from an M5! Brabus
How do you know a serious buyer from a non-serious buyer? All the people who came to see the car were "potential buyers" ie mid to late 30's, had nice cars of their own (996 Turbo, X5, 760, E39 M5). Came to drive the car, expressed huge interest and then nothing. Aaaargh. I'm quite interested in this:

However, I think they are now based on Merc chassis? With better build and capabilities from that. Should be good in the Swiss snow!
