i understand that as i had a highly modded V1 wrx sti with a closed deck block front mount, bilstein, ect ect sim tec ecu mapped by steve himself was running a silly amount of power and in the end selling it i lost maybe 5k scooby clinic rebuilt the closed deck block with H beam cons, forged pistons, reground sti crank, it was a silly amount of money that some lucky sod now has a the fraction of the price, but i guess thats my hobby

Martin at Unit 20 will probably have an RS 6 engine if you want to save the hassle of putting turbos on your own one? You can call him on 0151 336 6888. He's an RS 6 specialist. I was going to do the same and had 6k set aside for the project and Ben Williamson (tech director for Audi driver mag) was going to do it. If Martin has an engine I would contact Ben at Revo to put it in 01327 301 901. He is supercharging an S8 for a customer at the moment and looks after all the ones from the owners club 30+ so no stranger to the D2.

It will and has been done before, I remember Ben from Revo telling me the positioning of turbos may be a bit tricky but he would work something out. He had an RS 6 engine and gearbox in the workshop aswell as my S8 minus a gearbox in at the time you see.

it is the same lump yes but the turbo's are mounted by the transmition tunnel and will get in the way, also i spoke to ben from revo and he sed thats not a project that he would undertake however i did speak to the bloke at unit 20 and he has an RS6 engine and loom there with turbo's for me at £3500 and he thinks it would fit and he also sed that with a good remap the gear box in my car will take the power if the box is mapped not to qive max torque untill the high revs and high gears then it will be fine he also sed that with only 1 bar boost that will be 510 bhp

If Ric said that then he's said it for sound reasons. I very much doubt if the A8 uses the same spec base engine as the RS6. Its likely to have different pistons and cylinder head. These changes were made for a reason. Still, I'd seriously consider the supercharging route. Its easier to do than turbo-ing and the results are awesome. I drove a s

and it was the maddest thing i've every driven but at the same time you could go to shops in it and never know its potential. For the project you have in mind supercharging is much more feasible. Speak to Ric again on this cos he's done lots of superchargers.

i think if i was going to supercharge then i would rather spend my money on an Rs6 lump and stick it in my A8 by no means an easy feat but im sure the benefits of it when its done would be astonishing, if i can get the RS6 lump and loom for £3500 then pay say 1k for the install its cheaper and faster than the 6k pes G4 supercharger kit with much more power also

sorry i did not explain 1k was a quote i had form my boss im a taxi driver and he runs a garage and he sed he would only charge me 1k max to do the swap, i was also told by the bloke at unit 20 that the A8 S8 gearbox will mate up to the RS6 lump and with a clever remap of the gear box ecu it will take all the extra torque no problem, there are many ways of doing this and although unit 20 is almost positive that the RS6 lump will fit im not so sure myself .... but i guess there is only one way to find out and im sure if it went tits up the RS6 lump would sell for the same price and i could always get my money back ...??

ok sod it im getting an RS6 so now the subject changes to advice what to look for and pit falls, also if they are 450bhp standard then can they be remapped and decated to say 500bhp or would it need some better turbo's?

also what are the refinements like as i quite like the toys in the 8, blinds 10 speaker bose, double glazing ect what do they have in comparison ? im not worried about the ride quality also im getting a saloon model not the avant, any advice please ?

RS 6 - okay here goes.

Don't buy one with DRC, it just breaks a lot. Most have coilovers, only buy one with coilovers.

They are an easy 500 BHP with a remap, as long as they don't have any boost leaks and or need a new DV,N75 valves or leaky intercoolers.

They come with blinds too although this was optional, double glazing and solar are very rare on them but I have a friend with one for sale. With all them options and natural leather. I can't remember how much he wants but his mileage is on the high side 130kish. But is a healthy one running Blistein coil overs and made 515 BHP at a recent MRC dyno day. Black saloon, milltek MRC custom map etc...

well im in no rush to sell up because i do like the car just lacks some power thats all, so i think i will take some pictures when i get a chance and just see what happens, i have looked at many S8's and i could not find one that matched my spec although its an A rather than S its still a fun packed 8 with as you say a better spec than most S8 - of course the extra power, i get 25mpg every day it has never droped below that, and i get 29.5-32mpg on the motorway must be the long gears in the A8 that make it more motorway friendly ? yes if you can get a price for me and pm me with it and maybe some pics then i will be very intrested

many thanks

Will do, it's a really sorted car. The natural leather is so much nicer then standard. The milltek sounds amazing and the Bilstein PSS9s are the best (also most expensive) coilovers for the RS 6, about £2k supplied and fitted.

An S8 will do max 24 mpg because of it's stupid gearing. An RS 6 is more economical.
