Prhim
According to our stateside cousins, the Touareg is outselling the Porsche Cayenne by over 2 to 1 at the moment in the North American market: Sales for Dec 2003 Touareg 4,126 Cayenne 1,701 The figures for the whole year are a bit more balanced; but it does seem to contrast sharply with the UK - where my guess would be that the Cayenne is outselling the Treg at least 2 to 1, if not 3 to 1. I don't know Cayenne pricing details for the US, but the Treg is very heavily discounted (like $30k US for a loaded V6) which may have something to do with it's popularity. Apparently, the Touareg is now the 2nd most popular VW in USA...
Smudge
I read in the FT a few months back that the Cayenne accounted for 50% of the cars produced by Porsche in 2003. Something I was amazed by. God only knows where they are all ending up, the Middle East I guess!!
Dave
seeing as they are based on the same floor plan I would have to go for the VW!!.. esp in Tdi form. That V10 looks stunning Dave
s4dreamer
In my not-so-humble opinion, the Cayenne looks kak, but the Touareg looks like a well designed car come off-road vehicle. I wouldn't waste my money on a Cayenne, but as Dave says, that V10 looks like it'd be a stunner. Have you got around to having a test-drive yet Dave ? I keep meaning to, but as I'm not going to be in the market for a new car for at least another 9 months, I can't be @rsed at the moment.

I'm not in the market for a £60K 4x4 at the moment.. although it would be great it would just get trashed if i used it for the boat.. so I can't be arsed either.. would feel like I'm wasteing the dealers time!! I'm enjoying my TT at the moment and nothing else really turns me on.. actually I'm getting pretty pissed with cars at the moment.. you can't drive anywhere fast beacuse of all the fecking traffic and speed cameras.. so I just get in the boat.. no speed restrictions on water so I just burn about, as fast as you like, cutting up all the sailing boats and stuf.. great fun!! loddrik
Being that the Cayenne is much more expensive, is this really a surprise?

[/ QUOTE ] I would be VF carefull.....They can be little Hitlers as you say, some Harbours have a 5 or 8 Kts max speed for all craft..... Got the look of doom one day coming down the River at Brightlingsea (8 Kts I think) in full following gale doing maybe 20......Wild gybe mid river and then had to stop on the far side of the river to take the Mainsail down before going back across the river backwards......The only saving grace was that there were 40 other boats doing the same thing.... Dave
They don't call me 'Dangerous Dave' for nothing!! Know what you mean... no point on getting on the wrong side of him, but we only have a small harbour.. there are no moorings as such.. straight out onto the open sea!! Cheers Dave
