shao_khan
I dont mind the look on some of the old aircooled VWs, and its a look I see associated with that tye of car, not convinced it works on a newer car of any sort including the merc. m4ttm4son
Spot on Shao. I have a few friends with ratty Beetles etc. and they look great. Really have some character without too much "rat-bling". But it's always the nutters that take the look to the nth degree that ruin it though by getting a brand new car and thinking that a rusty bonnet and a roof rack make it rat-look. Like most styles of car modification, subtlety is key. And for the record, the Merc looks sh1t But I don't like Mercs anyway.
orange_plastic
Glad that sparked off a lively discussion! I think some people's over-emotional reactions are a bit disturbing though. Can someone please explain how the matt black paint and bonnet rust affect the speed of a car (unless the bit the elastic band hooks onto has rusted off)? I'd understand if the sills were rusty. Anyway, I've dropped the price to £750 without the wheels. Anyone? I've been offered £400 scrap value and I could take the wheels, Cosworth kit, lights etc off it first. I really don't want to though, because the engine is sweeeet...
theduisbergkid
1-There is a 'for sale' section on this website. This isn't it. 2-Bumping a long dead thread in an attempt to flog your car is pretty lame. 3-Your car looks sh*t.

cruiser647
The engine is sweeeeet? It's a 4 cylinder Merc engine. They are NOT sweet. They a little bit (and only a VERY little bit) better than the Ford CVH engines.
garcon magnifique
The only "sweet" thing about a Merc 4 pot is that it will run forever even if only occasionally maintained by an incompetent farm mechanic. I'd take the 400 quid for scrap if I were you. Then at least the engine might find a new life in something that doesn't look so sh!t.
Mort
I wouldn't give him £40 scrap for it. Congratulations Mr Orange... you took a decent car and completely f ucked it and lost a a wedge doing it. Hope it was worth it. Now if you haven't got anything else to say...
