nev1961
MY MECHANIC SEEMS BAFFLED AS I AM. JUST GOT THIS GOLF, KEEPS BLOWING WATER OUT, HAVE NEW WATER PUMP, AND RADIATOR, REMOVED THERMOSTAT, STILL DRIVES GREAT AROUND TOWN AT 30MPH SOON AS GO TO 70 OVER HEATS AND BLOWS WATER OUT OF OVERFLOW. ANY IDEAS ANYONE BEFORE START LOOKING AT NEW ENGINE?
stooH
Top tip. If you bought a GTI TDI it's not your mechanic you need to worry about
Tipex
I'm guessing it'll be a GT TDI? Sounds like the head gasket to me, somethings pressuring the cooling system, you need one of those sniffer things to test for carbon monoxide in the coolant. drpellypo
Not a very good mechanic if he can't suss out that water coming out of tank is headgasket. It's unlikely to be anything else imvho.
SINGH
My sisters' is doing exactly the same thing (GT TDI 130 03 plate) I put coolant in and within the hour its disappeared. She drove it with the bottle completely empty and the car was saying 'Stop' she's an idiot like that. Anyway there is a pipe that looks to have a leak in it. Going to have a look on Elsa then replace it, shouldn't be too hard, will try and get a picture to show which one.
Mook
If it's pressurising, then it's the head gasket.
