It's handy if the car feel sluggish and you swap between two different styles of driver a lot.It's suposed to take care of Jerky/hesitancy issues , my is fine but some are not. However, I've rang BMW and they've said it'll make no difference as it is purely the learning reset. So I'm not going to bother but thanks for the suggestion anyway. It'll take 5 minutes to try and may fix an issue that you raised, if it doesn't the worst that's going to happen is it'll 'relearn'. It's not a huge issue, it's just something you have to be wary of and one of those 'could be better' points. However, when BMW confirm that all it does is reset learning, and doesn't actually change immediate throttle response at all - just why would you bother? I just subscribe to a school of taking the professional advice and playing it safe. Knowing my luck it'd f*ck up and the next time we try nudging forwards we'll be doing 120 mph through a Sainburys car park before I could say "why did I do that". gizze Posted July 23, 2011 Report Share Posted July 23, 2011 You can get the 'combox' fitted to your car, this will give you proper internet with a browser and will allow you to get the 6NR option coded in too, which gives you smartphone apps on your car. NewNiceMrMe Posted March 12, 2012 Author Report Share Posted March 12, 2012 Been a while... A year on from buying the X5, what is there to say? Well it's done 16,000 miles and returned 19.2 mpg. Not bad for the lump and performance it gives. It likes oil too mind, with a good litre needed every 4,000 miles. However, what a car. We have no complaints about it and everything it does. No faults to talk about, no returns to the dealers, just nothing but uninterrupted power delivery and total comfort for a year. So with all the whinging, whining and complaining I've done over the Z4 it's only fair I pay credit to BMW in what they've made with this car. It's quite epic. It wakes the neighbours, sounds fabulous, rides supremely, handles quite incredibly for such a large vehicle and we still get asked about it every now and again if there are any car enthusiasts in the vicinity of where we park it (especially if they hear it trundle into a car park where you'd can't help but realise it has something large and potent under the bonnet). The media system has been fantastic for our youngest in the rear and unlike the Lexus (it was one flaw with it, the rear media system was tricky to operate) it is so easy to use and the quality is excellent. The trim (individual Champagne Merino full leather) marks up with denim but we knew it would, so you have to keep on top of that with cleaner. The 20" wheels mean high kerbs have to be watched carefully but they do look rather nice and haven't compromised the ride. It also seems very economical on tyres. I thought it might eat them, but no. The front and rears look like they've got another 10-15k in them easily. So much so that I asked MrsMe if she'd had them changed without telling me. So on this occasion this is a car I can thoroughly recommend. Right choice and will be with us for at least another 2 years, probably. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ours is the lowly 30d, but it does everything as expected and promised. so often you buy a car on rave reviews or with your heart and regret it 3-6 months in, hand on heart, I absolutely LOVE ours. Ours gets used for the kiddy run mainly, so mpg gets a hammering (28.2mpg av) but it is possible to get over 40 if you REALLY try! Now got 14,500 miles on the clock and it just gets better, oil service due in c4,000 miles. Not used a single drop of oil, which surprised me for a new engine, kind of expected to use at least some for the first 10,000 miles while it bedded in. Only think missing is a V8 sound track, but the fuel tank range is equally rewarding Actually, there is one small niggle, but now doesn't bother us. With the 3rd row seating option, the centre row fold flat and move forward-back, etc etc. This means the ISOFIX mountings are pretty much buried in the seat, making them all but impossible to use. Daft really as if you've ordered the 3rd row option, you're much more likely to have the need for ISOFIX.
