Power issues on TDI 90 - rev engine to get power

Hi Guys,

new here and yes i have a problem... hope you can help / advise.

I have a tdi 90 mk4 golf. and recently it started behaving very oddly.

At start it is extremely slow, like the turbo isnt workign at all. I have to rev the engine to about 3.5k revs and suddenly the turbo feels like it has kicked in and power is restored. I have to do this every time i start and stop the car.

However, when the power is restored it is still not as it was and i struggle to go up steep hills and excelleration is alot worse thatn it was.

Is there somethign obvious i need to change or look at? any help appreicated before i start taking it apart and cleaning changing oil etc.

I'm thinking it's a MAF issue, ECU and or turbo problem.
