Phantom
Well I took the plunge and got my A7 fully detailed today. I was originally going to get the Audi Lifeshine option before I took delivery of the car back in early July, but after hearing some horror stories on how they prep their new cars I decided against them. Instead I went for a company called Just Detailing Services - Car Detailing - UK, South, Bristol, based down in Bristol. They said they detailed a new car at an Audi dealership recently and the Audi guys took an hour to Lifeshine a car, and subsequently prepped 14 cars in the time it took JDS to do one car properly ! I found them via another TSN member, Hashluck who highly recommended their work. Talk about attention to detail !, two guys arrived at 10:30 and they left my house at 6:30 this evening, 16 man hours of effort and I have to say they did a great job. Interestingly they use a product called Glare which they machine onto the car's surface, it really gives a 'wet look' to the paint and I think it makes the Phantom black look even blacker if you know what I mean. I am normally very meticulous when I clean my car but these guys took that to a different level, providing me with plenty of hints and tips along the way. All in all I am really pleased with their work and I think they will be posting pics of the work they did to my car on their website in the next week or so. In the meantime a few pics I took earlier which really don't do the work they did justice.
Maxyboy
I love that car, it's k's out of my price range though. And yes, very shiny indeed. I'm guessing being black it won't stay that way for long.
Phantom
I guess so, and may be I have taken on too much with this car from a cleaning point of view, there is alot of sheet metal etc to keep clean ! The one thing that the Glare product, essentially a paint sealant, provides is that you don't really need to polish the car at all, simply wash down as and when required and that is it. The Glare product will provide protection for between 18 and 24 months but you can top up the Glare product by hand if you get the urge! Will let you know how I get on with this but if it makes it easier to look after the car in the long term then it was a worthwhile investment, which for my size of car worked out to around £365. m4ttm4son
Looking mean and shiny. I love the looks of this beast. The rear end looks very 8 series retro. This should be the next Transporter movie car choice IMO. Are they doing an S7 version yet?
Phantom
Yes they are releasing an S7, possibly at the Frankfurt show in September, this is rumoured to have a single turbo version of the new 4.0 V8. This same engine is also being introduced into the updated Bentley GT. There has also been talk of an RS7 which would be awesome to say the least, I expect this would have the twin turbo version of the 4.0 V8. To give the car even greater visual appeal I wonder if Audi will put some form of fixed rear spoiler on the back of the proposed RS7?, rather than the pop up spoiler that is currently on there. NewNiceMrMe
BMW tried selling me their lifeshine equivalent. I said no. I'll be taking mine to DDB at some point in the future. Yours looks stunning Phantom. It's already a very imposing car and I saw the brownish coloured one yesterday en route to the office and it gets better looking every day. In black, and with that type of shine, it looks stunning.
Phantom
Yep, so no Lifeshine for me and I certainly won't be letting Audi valet the car when it goes in for its first service. As I said this the first time I have used a professional detailer and to be honest I don't know why I didn't use one before. Look forward to seeing more pics of your new car MrMe , as you say the A7 is certainly a grower !

Booster
I am not changing my car this year. I am not changing my car this year. I am not changing my car this year...... Must resist! How can a car that I disliked at launch so much look so good now?
Phantom
Go on Booster, you know you want to . I was trying to work out why that side on photo looked so good as nearly every other side on photo of the A7 that I have seen makes the rear end look poor. It looks as though he took the photo of the car from below the waistline of the car and hence the rear end looks slightly better than normal. I have just asked for a higher res version of the side pic to put up in my home office
NewNiceMrMe
Wow - those pictures from the detailers aren't just bling, they're incredible. The side profile shine is astonishing. Impressive stuff.

NewNiceMrMe
I'd hardly say a meeting of A7's could be termed a "mini" meet. A ratherlargeandwide-meet might be more suitable.
Fergy
The Glare product looks fantastic. Im using Zaino at the moment and Im blown away with the reflections on the Phantom Black. Only the bonnet done so far as a sample from David @ DDB, but it ordered so I can do the whole car.
