NewNiceMrMe
"Come on Baldy" features here too (in the final credits)!!! Aye, and I noticed he'd got the tee-off at Applecross on camera too! Indeed it was a very good few days indeed, despite the fact a Yank smashed the engine brace bar on my 6 series.

NewNiceMrMe
Contact lenses all the way. I've worn them for 23 years and the day they tell me I can't wear them any more....is the day I go cliff walking for the last time.

garcon magnifique
One of the most comical things I've ever seen was DBlanc's A4 Cab bouncing down that road on Skye. I was expecting to see springs sticking out through holes in the top of his wings when we got there... The other memorable image from that trip was Drew's van on three wheels... And (following year?) the looks on the faces of all those in the Q7 after the "Astra incident" ....

I was expecting to see springs sticking out through holes in the top of his wings when we got there... Ah yes, the suspension wasn't ever the same after that according to him was it? The other memorable image from that trip was Drew's van on three wheels... Astonishing little van that. It didn't matter where we went or how fast.....that Berlingo van was always there in the mirrors. And (following year?) the looks on the faces of all those in the Q7 after the "Astra incident" .... Oh my. That was close. That was far too close for comfort. He was in it alone at the time though wasn't he? I was in one of the cars about 5-6 behind and the Astra was still almost at a standstill with the driver looking completely stunned. I think he was probably there an hour later too, thanking his lucky stars.

NewNiceMrMe
My favourite moment of 2008 goes to the Yank. He migrated to the Q7 after destroying my car. He sat ever so quietly in the back apparently - until the moment he made Craig slam the brakes on, and everyone else in the car say "Oh f*cking hell".... By holding his camera up inside the car and setting the flash off as they passed a camera.
Dblanc
I was directly behind and the look on the astra drivers face was something I will never forget. I did that road at 2am this morning (been up at the parents in Ballachulish) but could only go about 40mph as there were fecking deer everywhere and I didn't fancy one of those through the window. NewNiceMrMe
I can still see his face now Doug. I honestly don't think I've ever seen someone so horrified. It was one of those moments that was so close to being a very different one to be remembered. Very, very lucky escape.
Calm Chris
I 'know' of the Astra incident, it's been mentioned in a cryptic way a few times over the years. Does anyone fancy enlightening those who were not there of the true none cryptic story ?
NewNiceMrMe
Okay, I'll do the honours. However, in no way are we condoning this. It was an error on the part of the driver and he acknowledged that and was very gracious about it afterwards. It's just one of those events that, in retrospect, you can't help but think about. En route in Scotland, well on our way in fact. I can't recall exactly where we were but it was well beyond Glasgow and heading up towards Skye. Line of cars, our cars, on a section of fast but standard A road. Every now and again there were a few corners, fairly sweeping, and the whole landscape was adorned with mountains to the right and forests to the left. I was playing end car, so in front of me I could see Doug, Smitten, Ross, TP27, RS32 et al - and in there somewhere was Craig, whose username escapes me, in his Audi Q7 4.2 V8. There were other cars scattered between ours, though very few. However, at the head of our line was what I seem to recall was a Renault Megane and he was holding us up a little more than we wanted. One car overtook him, no problems at all. Craig then decided to overtake him, but for some reason he and no-one else will never know - he didn't see a Vauxhall Astra was coming towards him. As in "You'd never overtake". Not a hope in hell would you dare to overtake. The vision we all have is of an Audi Q7 missing a Vauxhall Astra by, I would guess, centimetres. The Q7 was moving very quickly. I still don't know how he missed it. The Astra driver was stunned. He virtually stopped a few yards further on and there is no doubt he'd slammed the anchors on and saved what could have been an accident no-one would ever forget, for all the wrong reasons. It wasn't clever, but it was an error. We stopped at Glen Coe (aha, so it was between Glasgow and Glen Coe) and, heres why no-one could understand it, Craig hadn't even seen the Astra....he didn't have a clue what we were talking about. TP27
A thorough summary MrMe !! I saw everything from my rear view mirror and went "NO" when the Q7 pulled out, just after I'd completed my overtaking manoeuvre !! Anyway, back to the Fish Tank scene - "Gotcha" (one of my best ever) !!!! :smileylove:

NewNiceMrMe
The Green Welly Shop? How on earth did I miss that. Was that where we parked up by the Loch with the strange power plant looking thingy up the hill?

NewNiceMrMe
The car park with the deer was Glen Coe. I do like the description though.
