I have had a b4stard sore right arm since July.

From what I've worked out it's tennis elbow- saw the Dr and she shrugged her shoulders and simply mentioned that she could admin cortisone.

If anyone has suggestions for an alternative fix, I'm all ears because I'd rather not have a series of injections that may not be a cure all.

It's getting silly now since I use tools and it's starting to hurt beyond reasonable ache levels.

Simple things like carrying anything in my right hand, even picking up a kettle, sometimes even a pint glass (I can cure that with a straw )- all has the same consequence. That being an electric nerve tingle and a general muscle ache between centre forearm and up over the elbow area.

Holding things down (beside your leg) like carrying shopping bags, tool cases etc can start the ache immediately- as can holding the arm straight out and twisting your fist left or right.

The pain mimics a wrestling or police arrest arm hold, but without the wrestler or police doing it.

Having used tools for maybe 25 of by 37 years of working life should I 'just' accept that God might consider it fare wear and tear.

Aye, the signs are setting in.

I used to be able to stay up to all hours late on a night, 3am, 4am, easily and then get up at 7am no problems. Not now. No matter how hard I try I fall asleep before 2am and struggle like hell to get up at 8am. I don't even sleep as well as I used to.

I've got a nagging pain in my right shoulder blade that is bugging the life out of me and my left foot hurts constantly. God knows why. I think I'm falling apart and need a few bandages and superglue to tack me back to together.

Cortisone cures the symptoms, not the cause.

And you're limited to 2 injections in the same place.

I'd go to a good sports physio. I'm using one now for my shoulder and it's working.

I'm back in physio for my other shoulder however they already admitted it's a lost cause to some degree and like the left, it will need surgery. I had a U/S guided cortisone a few months back which has helped and i am hoping I can last until June next year. Nothing to do with being off for the Olympics and the school holidays. No.

Chri5 - from what I understand, tennis elbow can be a bugger to sort out. Physio is definitely a good starting point, your GP should refer you. My current physio tracked some of my shoulder pain to my posture at the desk (which I know is shocking). Working on something as simple as that has helped so I would definitely give it a go. Not sure if surgery is an option for tennis elbow?
