redbeard
Hi. Can anyone advise me about the best place to go for the hard top for a 987 please. How much would I be looking at paying? Also what is involved in the fitting, ie is it a simple matter to fit / remove? Thanks
DanG
£1500, there or thereabouts. Ebay... I wouldnt bother, the fabric roof, once cleaned and waterproofed is more than adequate even in serious downpours and the heating works well - well mine does anyway! NewNiceMrMe
I was going to say I wouldn't bother. You can get them on eBay for £500. The Boxster roof is light though, one of the lightest there is, so it doesn't blunt performance too much. 51 lbs of extra weight. However, like all other hard tops they're a pain in the arse to put on and take off, there is always a risk of damaging paintwork and you need 2 people (though you could easily get away with it because of the weight, doing so is rather impractical). I had a hard top for my MX-5 some 17 years ago - put it on once, took it off once, sold it.

NewNiceMrMe
Oh and one more tip - if you buy a hood cleaning and sealant kit (Autoglym/Meguiars etc) - be prepared to stand there for an hour rinsing the first stage cleaning solution out. The Megs kit does a fabulous job, but jesus those suds keep coming once you try rinsing them off!
patently
My 996 hardtop has been in the garage for the last 5 winters. Completely unnecessary.
