Any one got a cork?

A rough night with our two year old vomiting and crapping. I got 1.5 hours sleep before being woken with hot skewers in my gut.

Dual bodily fluid emissions take your breath away....and if the process doesn't then the stink does.

Wife's got it too. This house is vile and smelly.

I got up at 15:30 after effectively being in a concious coma between visits to the bathroom.

Everything (yep - even my plums) ache like I've been beaten up with a baseball bat.

I think I'm now empty although it took 10 lower evacuations and 20 stints of hurling.

I'm now able to keep things inside me (I hope I'm not tempting fate) so todays intake now amounts to three pints of water.

I'm laying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself. The two year olds just fallen asleep next to me and the Mrs is still upstairs in bed.

I thought posting this in here would mean that all you caring souls would give me some supportive messages.

No - I didn't really but it's nice to share isn't it!

My 6 year old was sick in school last Thursday. Straight across the work desk! Had him home and thought all was well when the waft of vomit started drifting downstairs. Went up to find him laying in two tonne of sick still asleep! In his hair, face, feet, bed, carpet. And better still the washing machine had broken. Feel for you mate. Bad enough being ill but with kids too it's hell. Hopefully youre on the mend. Good luck!

I do the Cameron Diaz* test to see how ill I am.

I imagine she walks into the bedroom in her underwear asking for a good seeing too.

If you have got flu.......you ask her to bring you a glass of water and leave you alone.....any normal response means it is just a cold.

It's not much help in the meantime, but I always find the most rewarding and reassuring point in the recovery is the first time you fart without having to then run to the bathroom.

I'd add to that "beware of premature confidence" :o

On the plus side, if you had planned on losing weight in January, you've probably achieved your goal!!

7lbs in 24hours. Not a recommended way.

If you haven't got some get some Dhioralyte asa its replaces sugars, salts etc and is amazing stuff when a bug like this strikes.

+++ I'm gonna pop out once the Mrs is awake. Until now neither of us could face anything other than just water.

The best thing to get sugars back into you is to open a can of full fat coke/fizz and wait for it to go flat. Then sip it slowly.

Water is the worse thing.

Always amazes me at how strong the stomach muscles are. Able to push everything (and even when you think it's empty) up and out!

Feels like you've been doing 5000 sit-ups in one sitting!

Edited to add - best thing to eat now is just pasta with no sauce, crackers or toast with a very small amount of butter.

As a family we had a similar bug a few years ago and I hadnt heard of Dhioralyte, its amazing stuff and replaces all the vital salts and ensures electrolytes etc are all kept topped up.

Honey on toast might suit better than coke? Hope you all feel better soon

I've heard the fat coke thing too!

Dioralyte is good, and also a medicine called kaolin & morphin really settles the stomach (kids call it bird poo medicine and it does taste disgusting but it works!!)

Can't think of much worse than having pukey kids and having yourself at the same time ... wishing you all a speedy recovery x

Im no doctor but it does sound similar to when I had the Norovirus bug. It was dreadful. Lasted about 4 days mostly on the toilet every 20 mins and then when it stops you still have a couple of days to stay away from others, as you can pass it on. It got to the point where I even changed what side of the bed I used as it was closer to the toilet!

Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

That what I concluded from searching the web.

We're all definately over the worst of it now. :) We all had a small jacket spud with cheese tonight. Not special but wonderful after just a few slices of toast since Friday. I've lost 10lb and the Mrs (only a size 8) has lost 7lb. Kids are looking skinny.

Another day at home for us all tomorrow to ensure we don't spread it. Heard today there's been a bit of an outbreak of it locally.

Thanks for the good wishes in this thread. Do your best to avoid it!
