Twinspark
Just shows what £600m+ plus can buy you. City have spent around £200m more in the last 6 years than United have since 1992. That puts things into perspective.

That puts things into perspective. Blah blah, all teams spend money, it's the nature of the game. City had a lot of catching up to do in terms of quality and had the money to do it, get over it. Had it been your team who suddenly had massive funds at their disposal, I very much doubt you'd be on here moaning about how unfair the game was. What obviously gets your goat is the team with all the money and now hot favourites to lift the title are your noisy neighbours, boo hoo Edited May 6, 2012 by Milo
NewNiceMrMe
Well that was gutting. Newcastle were very poor today and the best team, by some distance, won. League over and we'll move on. Congratulations to City. The best team wins the league year on year and I can't say differently this year. To lose it on goal difference alone will be even more painful if that's what happens, but I can't deny the deserve it. Their fans were very good today too, much louder than the Newcastle fans in fact and it was an altogether depressing 2 hours.
m4ttm4son
I can't believe you're giving up MrMe, don't you support your team to the final whistle? "Swansea 11-0" is trending on twitter. Because if ManU beat Swansea 11-0 they'll close the gap
NewNiceMrMe
I support them all the way, but even I know today was the last chance realistically. City aren't going to lose or draw at home to QPR.
Twinspark
Whilst there have been many, many twists and turns since Christmas - we lost the title in the last 6 minutes against Everton. At 4-2 up, we should have closed down the game and come away with all 3 points, which in all likelihood would have settled the title for us. Calm Chris
Milo you can be proud of your team this season, something I haven't been able to say about my team for a few seasons. As for Utd well hey go there's always next year, maybe you can join the special sector of supporters who get to win feck all, year on year. As a long standing member of that sector I'd be happy to nominate you.

Mind you, my chosen non-league side are still there, bumping around in mid-table obscurity, and haven't delivered anything for me to celebrate for nearly 20 years. You seem to be forgetting the mass of trophies we have accumulated and the fact that, as things stand, the Premier League trophy is still at Old Trafford. Don't be so quick to condemn others to your clubs lowly standards. We only need another 8 goals and we're level pegging.

Milo
Milo you can be proud of your team this season, something I haven't been able to say about my team for a few seasons. Cheers Chris, it would be fair to say (like 99% of the fans would), this year has been a hugely unexpected success. We were short-listed as relegation fodder by quite a few (or 'many' on here ) and while I didn't expect them to be in the bottom 6, I didn't expect them to be in the top 6. Like most, I was bemused at Pardew's appointment. But whatever people think of them, he's built a team that believes they can beat anyone on their day. And has shown that against the so-called big 4. Whether they can maintain that momentum into next season remains to be seen however I thought it would be a long time before I ever saw them jostling for a Champions League position again. Long term....I still think Ashley is driven by £ signs and will bail out at the first (or most lucrative) opportunity. Personally, I'd love that. Let him get his money back out and let someone with a passion for football and a real desire for sucess (and a big wallet ) have a go. As things stand, I see the top 4 clubs being 2 x Manchester, Arsenal & Chelsea. With Spurs, Newcastle and Liverpool squabbling over the next 3 positions. Only time will tell if Ashley will back the club and fight to keep the current squad together; unfortunately he has the power to make or break the club with the click of his fingers. We only need another 8 goals and we're level pegging. I owe you an apology. Man Utd didn't fail to win a trophy this year, you won the Charity shield. I know its not the same as the CL or the PL or the FA cup, but you do have something real in the trophy cabinet after you have given the PL to the neighbours. Well until August when that too could end up with the neighbours.
NewNiceMrMe
It ain't over yet. Besides, we'll have fought to the end and if we do lose it then it's likely to be on goal difference alone. I can live with that.

Luke
Well Mark Hughes was discarded by City so he'll be hell bent on getting anything out of that game and helping his old pals at Utd. Wouldn't it be amazing (not for a city fan!) if they got a draw there and Utd win. Edited May 8, 2012 by Luke
m4ttm4son
It makes me chuckle at the thought that the Charity shield could be contested by the cash-flowed Man City and Chelsea, this year and for the foreseeable. Or is it funnier that it's actually called the Community shield? Arab vs Russian oil.
NewNiceMrMe
The chances of QPR getting a result at City are slim to say the least. There is also a strong possibility they won't need to. Bolton have looked awful of late and they have to win at Stoke to send QPR down (presuming QPR lose). So if they're behind or level and get wind that Bolton are losing or being held, they know it doesn't matter. Of course they'll not go out with that mentality - they'll be going out to win. However, going all out at City will probably leave them incredibly exposed and I fully expect City to capitalise on that. Their support at the Newcastle match was excellent. They outsang the Toon Army easily and that's not easy to do - so the atmosphere at their home ground for what is a title-winning game will be loud to say the least. NewNiceMrMe
Not many at Newcastle. 5-6 Man United games over the years, a couple of Euro 96 games, I'll be there for Brazil v New Zealand in the Olympics too. However, where Newcastle are concerned this is only the second time I've been to watch them when the real United aren't involved. The first time I was cheering for Sunderland many years ago because you have no idea what it is like to live near Newcastle when they win.
