As has been posted before, what a season! and its still not over yet. Who's the final team to go down, who's going to get into the champions league and in my mind the title race is still very much still on.

Going into the final 3 games City had it all to do. Playing UTD then a rampant Newcastle team gunning for the Champions league followed by a QPR team playing for their Premiership lives.

Utd on the other hand had a 3 point lead at the top before the game at City and new a draw would almost guarantee the league. They then faced a Swansea side who went on holiday 3 weeks ago followed by Man Utds feeder club, Sunderland.

I am surprised know one has mentioned it yet but I was disappointed Utd didn't really go for it against Swansea. A 5-0 win would have shaken things up and as I say who knows what kind of deal could have been struck with the feeder club and a 7-0 win on the last day would not have shocked me.

Maybe SAF believes QPR will grab a draw but it did smell a bit like giving up to me.

Whatever happens its going to be a cracking final day of the season and I can't wait.

Hmm, not so sure I'd called Newcastle 'rampant' when 2 games before they'd been thrashed 4-0 by Wigan - but I take the point in general. They really were crap on Sunday though. I was gutted.

You say United didn't go for it against Swansea but how many thrashings have Swansea had? It was a poor second half when a couple more goals might have helped, but 8?

I bet you can't wait, aye. I'd love to say good luck, but I'd be lying.:roflmao:

If and in my mind it is still if City beat QPR I can imagine it being a nervy 1-0. That would mean if Utd had won 5-0 against a tired Swansea team they could have clinched the league with a 7 or 8 goal win against Sunderland. Martin O'neill is a proud man but the Utd/Sunderland relationship is a special one with Sunderland benefiting from many loans and signings of unwanted utd players.

I think of it like F1 with Red Bull and Toro Rosso. Ok I am just being paranoid, can you blame me having not won the league since 68 and in that time anything that can go wrong has gone wrong, twice.

Either way still shocked utd relied on help from other clubs rather than have a right good go, very un utd that from what I have seen over the years.

City are still under pressure and can still balls it up but imagine the pressure if the goal difference was only 6!

I maintain that whoever wins the league (and it is more than likely to be City) will be the best team of the season. I've always stuck by that and it won't be due to favours from any other team - it'll be because everyone has to play everyone else and it's only at the end of 38 games this season that we'll know.

I will say this though - if one team wins it on goal difference alone it won't be the same as a true league title in my book - and I stand by that if United win it by scoring 20 against Sunderland! It's like the Champions League win against Chelsea on penalties - it just doesn't feel the same as 1999.

I still think they should scrap goal difference completely except in Europe on the away goals rule. Let the teams play it out in a cup tie. Now THAT would be exciting!

It'll be a minor miracle for us to win at Sunderland and for City not to win against QPR and I'm going into this weekend with no optimism at all. Just faith. Blind faith.:roflmao:

Yup, I absolutely loved it. The only thing I can think off that could make it any funnier is seeing QPR win on Sunday, only for the smelly mackem b'stards to turn you over.

Awww, bless. Still, at least you can say you played some part, however tiny and insignificant, in the title race.

It's about as close as you're ever likely to get to actually being in the race yourselves ;)

I actually fancy QPR getting something out of the game on Sunday. However I can also see Sunderland getting a point as well, despite their recent shocking form.

I'll be at Wembley however, for another 3PM kick-off.

Hmm, well I'm afraid I see West Auckland Town winning that one.

As a proud Whitley Bay FC supporter along with LittleMissMe I had the displeasure of watching WTA dispatch our lads 6-1 recently. The thing about this game is the interesting contrasts in style. Dunston have a very solid defence but aren't prolific scorers. WTA were league runners up and hammered in 117 goals this season - a ratio of almost 3 per game. They have a strike force that could play at a much higher level - but they shipped 58 goals to the opposition (as opposed to 34 for Dunston).

It should be a cracking match though because of that. Dunston finished 5 points behind them in the league.

Either way, I'm disappointed we have to give up the Vase after 3 years in our possession and a record breaking period that I suspect won't be equalled for decades to come, if ever.

Our Away form was appalling this season and Ian Chandler needs to get some need blood in. I suspect we've relied on the old guard a little too long now and our strikers looked a shadow of their normal selves this season. I'd go far as to say the 6-1 drumming by WTA was the worst I've ever seen for Whitley Bay. It seems like a long time ago that we beat Newcastle United Reserves 3-1; but it was only 2 seasons ago!

Mind you, nowt will change at Hillheads until we get rid of the Chairman. They've pocketed tens and tens of thousands of pounds over the last 3 years through the cup successes and very little has changed at the ground. We've been promised new facilities time and time again and the sooner he fecks off the better. The thing is, the arguments at this level are the same as in the higher echelons like the Premiership. Chairman and fans - never the twain shall

agree!

p.s. I hope you do win because it was those barstewards (WTA) that ended our Vase run!!!! Feckers. I still blame the FA for that too cos the first game was postponed when it could easily have gone ahead - and in the intervening week we lost two players to illness!!!!

Christ, it's another non-league pervert.

I remember a cold, wet, and desolate night or two up there with my non-league outfit, Droylsden.

That was in the days of the HFS Loans Prem / First - we were a handy first division outfit back then - I recall you pipped us to the title in 1990-91, courtesy of us being deducted a bag full of points due to player paperwork irregularities.
