Gearbox repair/replace recommendations

Have got a d2 a8 and am having issues with the gearbox. If the car goes into 4th gear the revs go massively high then it bumps into limp mode. I've had issues with the gearbox before and unfortunately the warranty has run out and they will not help me out. So can anyone recommend a company to use? I'm just off the a3 halfway between guildford and Portsmouth but am quite willing to go a reasonable distance if the company is particularly good. Also I anyone has any ideas what is going on it would be appreciated. I have had the box replaced before and I also had the gearbox ecu inspected and reconditioned but the issue keeps on appearing.

Many thanks

Peter

Thats exactly the symptoms that mine had before it was diagnosed with terminal box failure I'm afraid. 4th gear had failed completely at 118,000 miles and the box had to be replaced. How old is the box you have in now and how many miles has it done? have you had any gearbox oil changes at 20-30000 mile intervals on the new box? In my case the MAF sensor had gradually failed and send unhelpul messages to the gearbox TCU. I replaced the box with a service exchange one from TPS/ZF in the end as I was nervous of a fix on the old box costing a huge chunk of money and still going wrong again (at least with an exchange you get new everything including torque converter, tcu and even pre-loaded with fluid. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted +++
